Re: Do Win 94s handle short OAL cartridges ok?

Well, that bullet should provide a long enough cartridge length if it's got a near-standard exposed length. They do need to be within a certain size of "standard" - each 94 is a little different but in general, they need to be in that "slot". Best thing to do is make a couple of ...

Accelerators actually used a sabot with .22 caliber bullets IIRC. Very fast.

I would also suggest some good cast boolits at slower speeds over a case full of IMR Trail Boss.

I just want to say that Marlin has been making leverguns for a rimless cartridge for a long time with no troubles at all - 35 Remington... so I don't see why a 10mm M94 would be any big trick for them. Well, if they perform like that at that velocity, then I would suspect they'd do just fine at 1600 fps from a standard .357 Mag in a Marlin with 18"... - probably expand less but penetrate a bit more... and I'd stay at 100 yards and in with it. Regardless, I think that you are detailing an &quo...

Love my G20SF!

And besides being a better combat round, it also is more versitile in the hunting field.

Its really about the maximum practical power for an autoloader.

Yes, you can get Dessert Eagle and such but those really are beasts. The G20 is light and handy for open carry.

I'd just stick with standard loads. One of my favorite is a 250 grain Laser Cast rnfp over 7.0 grains of W231 in a Win Case with WLP primers - 800 fps from a revolver and 1000 fps from my Marlin 94 Cowboy with 24" barrel.

In that situation, I would've tried to heat the frame a bit where the barrel screws in - not a lot - not enough to remove temper, just to 200 degrees or so to get it to swell a little and allow the barrel to turn.
