Yea it is funny that the same bullet/ velocity combo from a handgun can kill anything that walks but put it in a rifle and it's inadequate. Go figure.

I would suggest you try the original size first, most likely 6-48, can be had fron Brownells, but if you order, go ahead and get the drill and tap for 8-40, which is what Marlin uses. If that don't work I'd sell the rifle, and since it needs work I'd goa against me better judgement and give you $100...

Only news I hear about is NOT a levergun, unless you call a bolt a levergun. Here is a pic of the Marlin XL7, their new bolt rifle, like a mix of many on the market. Maybe the crimp IS TOO heavy. You might have created a bulge in the brass right below the crimp, preventing it from cycling properly.

I killed one with a 17 HMR, neck shot at 15yds, haven't had the chance with the WMR, yet. But a 100yd head shot is a LONG shot. THier head can move a lot while feeding. Aim between the eys and ears about the eye level or just slightly lower. My WMR groups about 1" at 100 with CCI 40gr HP loads ...

I've read about guys using a wal mart hot plate to melt the wheel weights, etc to make the ingots.

My question is how high of wattage does it have to be to work. I almost got one the other day for $19 that was 500W. Is that enough?
