I went today and picked up the Trapper I bought the other day. http://www.levergunscommunity.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=10241 Looks in perfect shape, can't find a scratch on it. The feller is thinking of going to gunsmithing school. Don't know if that is a good thing or not. Came with a ziplock bag...

We passed letters back and forth a few times in the mid 70's. What I remember fondly (as others have mentioned) is how he would answer questions -even silly ones- with such patience and kindness. It seems also that he would write (type) just what he was thinking , miss-spelled words and all. At the ...

OK so now I bought this thing , anyone have some words of advice on handloading for it ?
Does it digest semi-wadcutters , how about 300 gr and up bullets?
Does it twist heavy or light bullets better?
Any words of wisdom or tricks I should know?

Thanks for the fast replies guys !!!
I bought it.
He said he put the pad on it because it kicks.
One mans "kicks" is another's nudge.
Does a 44 mag trapper kick that much ??
Now I have to do a search and find the good and bad of this gun, especially as to
handloading for it.

Man I can't believe I'm tellin you this..........but look to Montana. Deer season is about 6 weeks long. No calibure/ gun restrictions to speak of. Usually ,with extra tags, you can get 5-7 deer (only one buck) a year. The deer are big. Most of the state has both Whitetail and Mulies. Huge tracts of ...

As an air traffic controller I was working the morning departure rush. Another controller came upstairs and said an aircraft has hit the twin towers . Re: reloading 40-65 wcf
I would suggest that you first slug the bore and find out what you are dealing with. There can be a wide varation of bore diameter. Mine for example is oversize at .410 which allows me to use 41 mag bullets. Resizing 45-70 brass can be a problem because 40-65 brass/chambers are a few thousandths big...

Along this line (and this directly impacts this issue) I'm getting real tired of everyone being "terrified" or being in a state of "terror" of some kind with every missevent in their lives.
Women and small children may plead terror , but men have a higher standard.

My two sons, brother-in-law and I went to the Cody Museum today.
I had not been there in 10 years or so. Quite a bit bigger than I remembered.
I was surprised at the number of visitors from Europe there.
Ate at Irma's. Good food.
It is really worth going.

Anyone got the story of someone shooting a Elephant with a 30 WCF ??
I'm not saying that it wasn't done , I just think it would make an interesting read.
After all Bell shot all those elephants with a 7mm Mauser.
