It's not a lever gun but still very handsome to my view. 22MAG is a keeper!

I had annoying muzzle jump with my Savage 99 in .308 that was fixed by Magna Port of Michigan. Their precision process did not even mar my bluing. Pricing is very reasonable.

If its an organized drive and I'm the designated shooter on post I load up all the way. Otherwise, three in the magazine works just fine.

Loading: Try leaving a little of the cartridge base sticking out of the loading gate. Use the next round to push it in.

I phoned TC Customer Service. They advised me to use FF for load and FFFF for pan primer. They said that FFF is for 44 caliber and smaller. FF is for 45 caliber and larger. I'm following their advise for safety.

If you have ammo for the 284 then this will provide widest breadth options.

Thanks guys for all the input.
It took me 25 minutes to get the old one out and about 10 minutes to install the new one. No more leaks!

Pere David deer are extremely rare in North America. Even zoos rarely have them in stock for viewing. I'm glad for you. I really like my Bushnell 1.5X - 4.5X scope. It rotates between my CVA 50 caliber and my Henry 22LR rifle. Good clarity, sturdy build, and priced right. I've owned it for 2.5 years with no problems. I never understood why anyone would hunt big bears. That being said, I have no quarrel with those that do.
If I were to go after a big one it would be with a 35 Whelen and backed up by guide with AK-47 and big clip full of ammo.

The photo shows both of our 30-30 carbines. Both have put a lot of meat on our table. But if I had to keep just one it would be the Winchester. It's lighter and points just a tad faster.

I hunt deer within archery only zones of northern Maryland. Plenty of public lands at remote reservoirs. But a small canoe takes me to places that are loaded with white oak trees. The hunting is almost too easy.

Don't be put off by birch or beech woods. They're stable, sturdy, and tough. Pressed checkering is nothing in the deer woods.
