Re: Pics and/or advice wanted

Any pics or a website where I can see one? A big concern I have is the shortened sight radius. I'd like to take a look at one though. Matt

Re: Pics and/or advice wanted

My friend bought this very same rifle last spring for shooting silhouettes, he mounted the CORRECT Marbles tang sight with no problems whatsoever, D&T one hole IIRC. Looks just like the one posted by SHASTA. Browells was out of the sights at the time, took about 3 weeks to get one. He also adde...

Re: Pics and/or advice wanted

I really appreciate the suggestions. I was hoping the Marbles tang sight for the tang safetied guns could be put on without drilling and tapping. I have receiver sights on my other silhouette guns with the exception of an original 1892 32-20 that I don't want to deface by having the receiver drilled...

Pics and/or advice wanted

I just put a Winchester/Miroku 1892 32-20 Takedown DLX on lay-away at a local gun shop. The gun has a 24" tube and octagon barrel. I bought it to hopefully shoot cowboy silhouette. I'd like to add sights, either a tang or receiver to it so I can make sight adjustments for the various yardages. ...

Were Win. 92s ever factory D&T for a receiver sight?

I just put a Miroku 1892 32-20 takedown on layaway. My plan is to use the gun for cowboy silhouette. I prefer Redfield receiver sights for this game and am planning to put one on this gun. My question is this: Did Winchester ever factory drill and tap the 1892 for a receiver sight, and if so, what's...

Re: Dad or grandpa's guns

When my dad, a WWII vet, passed 20 years ago, my brother and I shared his firearms. Dad loved hunting, but wasn't a big "gun guy." Nevertheless, he had some opinions about guns that have influenced me to this day. To Dad, Winchester made the best rifles, but he didn't care for their shotgu...

Re: New Ruger American rifle (I done seen one)& other new Rugers

Vancelw, there had been some rumblings that Ruger would introduce a left-hand 77/22. Did you notice any new offerings in left-hand? Thanks, Matt.

Need help identifying a Win. 94 Rifle?

As too often happens, I attended an auction and purchased a gun that I probably shouldn't have. As such, I would like some help in determining whether I bought a rare gun or a gun that had been modified from original. The gun is a Winchester Model 94 rifle with a 20" barrel. The serial number i...

Re: Loading a 32-20 for Cowboy Silhouette

Al, hope you're feeling well and will tear up the match in NH. I'm shooting some archery, but haven't broken a shot with the leverguns since the PA Shoot. I'm anxious to take a crack at the metal targets again and want to try the 32-20. Thanks to all for the information on the loadings. I have to ge...

Re: Loading a 32-20 for Cowboy Silhouette

Thank you to everyone for the input. Sixgun, I shoot at Tiadaghton every Thursday evening and spoke with you at the state shoot. I'm anxious to try the gun out and want the weather to moderate so I can practice a bit. Take care. Matt

Loading a 32-20 for Cowboy Silhouette

My wife's uncle presented me with a vintage Winchester 92 in 32-20 this past September and I plan to shoot it for Cowboy Silhouette. I purchased a Marbles Tang Sight for it and need a height for a Lyman Globe Sight. Additionally, I plan to load for it and was hoping to gleen some information from yo...

Re: Winchester 9410 : Opinions Wanted

I have never shot my 9410 with slugs, but have used nothing else for small game hunting since I bought a Traditional with invector chokes and a tang safety from a Winchester rep in 2003. The .410 certainly has its limitations, but I can't think of a better gun with which to hunt bunnies over hounds....

Re: Winchester 9410 / Squirrel Hunt

Since I bought my first 9410 in 2003, I have not hunted small game with anything else. It's deadly on cottontails over dogs and just holding a Winchester levergun is great while you're waiting for the dogs to circle a bunny. My friends, family, and I have taken over 300 rabbits in the last three yea...

Searching for a Tang Sight for silhouette

I was recently given a Winchester 92 in 32-20 from my wife's uncle. I shoot a great deal of cowboy silhouette and would like to equip this gun to shoot. SInce the gun is in excellent condition, I have no interest in drilling the receiver and want to find a tang sight that is adjustabe for elevation....

Win9410, I do wish you had not wrote that. I would of preferred you to tell me how poor they are darn it  Your description is exactly how I imagine one would be like. How far was the bird? Which choke tube do you prefer? I allways went for Mod or Imp cyl. Nath. Nath, the gun came from the fac...

I bought a 9410 Traditional in 2003, one of the first tang safety guns with invector chokes. I was a bit hesitant to use it for rabbit hunting as my Citori 20 gauge seemed perfect. After the first day of the season, I decided to take the 9410. I haven't hunted small game with anything else. I shot 4...

Help with the Lyman DPS II Powder Measure

I have been using my Lyman DPS II Electronic Scale for loading cowboy silhouette loads and have probably only loaded about 1000 rounds with it since late 2005 when I bought it. As I was loading this evening, the unit started to falter a bit when it shifted to the trickle mode. I could hear it trying...

Shortly after Winchester announced that the 9422 would be discontinued with just the remaining Tribute guns to be produced, I saw where Cabela's was closing out the guns for a ridiculous price. Having a friend who was a Winchester rep, I didn't move on them since I thought I would have no problem se...

How do the Rossi and Puma made guns compare to the Browning, or for that matter Cimmaron or Taylor's? I have wanted a 92 for quite a while and think they would work well for silhouette, but I just want a nicely made gun with a 24" barrel for the longer sight radius. Does one gun shoot better th...

In looking at a Browning 53 on GunBroker, the front sight appears to be dovetailed into the ramp. Dave, is that not the case? I never considered the difficulty of changing the front sight since I'd want a globe front as well. Pete, I use a .357 now, but quite a few of the guys use the 32-20 with no ...

Would you drill and tap a Browning 53

I've been thinking about adding a Browning 53 to my collection for Cowboy Pistol Cartridge silhouette and was wondering if I would be committing a sin if I had the receiver drilled and tapped to accept a sight. I don't like tang sights for silhouette but have heard that Browning made one of the best...
