Re: 33 Winchester.

Thank you guys, Didn,t realize the .33 was a .338. Makes bullets much easier. If I buy the 33 I might use some 45/70 or similer brass. But I would probably just bite the bullet (pun intended ) and buy Quality cartridge ,or jamison brass with the proper head stamp. I found an 1899 manufactured model ...

Re: Photos of the firearm displays at our show last weekend

Thats the show at witch I got my 30/30. The one I pictured in my thread a new a new on I think I called it. I rejoined the outfit that put it on too. What a class bunch of people. There was another display of classic doubles and each was sitting next to a cartridge. I am sure you could buy a very ni...

Re: Here's one for you Win. 88 fans.

The second 88 is in a reasonable price range to me. I know where a guy can get a prety nice .284 for 1500.00. I don't see what makes the 1st rifle so valuable. But I admit I am not familiar with the scope on it or the mounts. But as a hunter there is no scope mount set up that is worth a whole lot o...

Re: A new one !

What the heck happend, I posted a reply right after the picture. Oh well, Its a 30/30 made in 1908. Bore is bright and shiney. The peep is a lyman #2A . I traded my 1925 vintage 30/30 eastern carbine and 200 Bucks for the Rifle. Meaning I am in it about 825.00. The fellow I traded with had my carbin...

If you are shooting in modern marlin, you can certainly best 1100 with the 115 grain cast bullets. the light loads are for old colt single actions. I have a 1907 model 92 winchester and I am getting 1500 with 100 grain hornady hollow point handgun slugs using W-231. I would get somthing else for dee...

I got a 1928 carbine for 650.00. If you have 500.00 to spend a pre64 is within reach.

I took a couple of my old lever guns out to the woods today. I had a ball of course. My 1895 SRC in 30/40 krag is very acurate , But it shoots way high. I will probably have to find a new taller front site blade, if i am going to hunt with it. My 1892 octagon rifle is just a hoot ! I had some ultra ...

save some more dough and get somthing real cool. A pre 64 30/30 can still be had for around 800. 00 and that is for a saddle ring carbine. But If you want somthing bigger save just a little more ang get your self a marlin 45/70. I am a certified winchester loon, but my 1895 marlin is one hell of a l...

I want to start at somewhar around 1550 to 1600 FPS and work up to the old factory high vel load at 1800. Any body h...

Even an old winchester loon like myself likes that alot ! I have been rescerching alot latly, and discoverd the the 38/55 was origionaly a marlin cartridge, developed as a target round for a marlin ballard rifle.
