Re: SAWING AWAY-- pics added--

I only use a couple of air tight stoves. One upstairs heats most of the house and when it gets real cold (0F or so) I fire up a small stove downstairs to keep pipes from freezing. also an oil fired furnace and heat pump. Is that OWB in the background your heat source? They do tend to use up the wood.

Nice going! My wood was cut last fall and drying in my back yard. Around the end of September I will move it into my garage and start checking my neighbors maple bush for blow downs and thin out undesirable trees in his maple bush. ie ash, elm and sometimes choke cherry. I am feeling pretty good now...

Most of the old hay fields and pastures are now planted in soy and corn. Cows don't leave the barn anymore, pastures used to be the best place to look for them.

Used to shoot a lot of them around here. Usually in hay fields after they were cut. My favorite rifle was a 22 hornet (BRNO with double set triggers). Haven't seen as many lately, the coyote population has gone up though.

Thanks everyone for the thoughts and prayers. I also quit smoking in February before my operation. It was relatively easy for me. I guess I was motivated. I was a pack and a half a day (25 cigarettes /pack in Canada) for 40+ years. No patch, only a couple packs of nicotine gum. Still get the urge fo...

Re: Lyman tang sight question

I could be wrong, but I thought most early model 94 rifles were tapped to accept a tang sight. This rifle has both a standard barrel sight and a tang peep sight. I don't really see how having both sights would give good result. The barrel sight does not fold down so when looking through the tang sig...

Lyman tang sight question

I picked up an interesting rifle today. A model 94 in 32ws (32 special) circa 1920. It has a 26" half octagon /half round barrel and a Lyman tang sight with the large target disc. It also has the standard rear sight on the barrel. My question is does the tang sight really increase the value of ...

Nath my fire maker only lasts for 1 shot but they are pretty hot. I wouldn't mind trying a flintlock, but lefthanders are hard to find. I don't think I would like all that flash in front of my face.

Fixer upper for a friend

A buddy brought me a fixer upper to look at for him today. It is a model 94 SRC serial 1,000,0xx (circa 1926). the action was locked up with rust. After oiling and playing around I got it to cycle. I pulled it apart and found a broken firing pin, the rest just needs cleaning. The exterior is really ...

They are not common over here either, but not unheard of. The common 12,16,20 and .410 in decent condition average $150.00. I new they were rarer, but I didn't think over 2 times the going rate.
