Re: Ultra sonic cleaning
Used one for years in the shop for engine parts. Not sure how it would work on an assembled handgun as the cleaning agent is water based. You would need to thoroughly dry, oil all metal parts. If you stripped the piece and cleaned the parts in the basket, then dried and oiled them as you re-assemble...

Remington 514 Boys Rifle. It was 1962 and I was 10 yrs old. Dad took me to the hardware store and I handed over near to $16 if I recall right. Mr. Richardson, the store owner threw in a box of .22 lr with the deal. I wore that rifle out and Remington replaced the barrel on it for no charge a few yea...

I think B&S is still the best way to go. You can get parts just about anywhere. In twenty years as a master service tech for Briggs, Kohler, and Tecumseh I had the least problems with Briggs, especially when you consider the number of engines they build. Another reason I have appreciation for th...

I like the Wrangler 47MWZ, (sort of a relaxed version of the old 13MWZ cowboy jeans). My alternative is Carhartt's B 480. They are both heavy (15oz?) denim and cut for a man, not a skinny little kid. Either will outlast Levis by far.

I have a 1917 '92 rifle in .38WCF that will do that occasionally. It has always been just a small bit of crud or shaved brass under the extractor hook itself. I suspect that the extractor has worn down just a bit over the years so that it is fussy about being kept clean.

Weasel or fisher in these parts will clean the whole house in many cases, just for the fun of it. A barred owl will take on something as large as a chicken or house cat, some times won't carry it off, but will piece it out. I've heard stories that an owl will "knock the head off" another b...
