Nice going OI! Seems it did the job nicely. Bigsky reported complete penetration from end to end on a mountain lion. I feel pretty confidant that a heavy cast 357ish bullet will get the job done on anything I am likely to encounter in my lifetime.

in my 356 Winchester I shoot hard cast lead, sized .359 at what should be 2000-2100 fps with no problems. To clean, I break out the standard bronze bore brush and give it about 20 passes, then wet/dry. It's the same as cleaning up my 22's after a day of plinking. Beartooth and Montana Bullet Works(n...

The museum is beautifully done, but it's in a bad area unfortunately. A diamond in a goats rear end. One has to watch themselves and their family very closely in the parking lot and take necessary precautions.

After watching my sons Marlin 22 blow up in his face and his eyesight saved by shooting glasses, I would resolve to always having eye protection. He still caught some brass in the face as did my buddy sitting next to him. That's the bigger issue I believe. We are rolling the dice if we do not wear i...

. FWIW, when I practice prior to a hunt, I set out plain brown cardboard ovals (cut from grocery store empty boxes and stapled to wooden stakes), that are about the size of a deer/hog's vitals (10"H x 12"L). I place 3-4 at random distances (25-125yds), then take shots as quickly as I can,...

The term "horse pistol" I believe comes from those single shot pistols carried in holsters on the rider's saddle. Pretty sure this was the setup for the Walker Colts as well when they came along. I've seen some personal holsters worn on the body paired up with early Walkers and Dragoons(Al...

. With the bolt "out" of the rifle, and an extension handle on the properly-sized throat reamer, it can be easily done. The chamber cast is an excellent idea for finding out just what's needed. Care should be taken to ensure that the reamer is held concentric to the chamber/bore, so the u...

Something that occurred to me recently, based on my experience with only ONE Marlin, is that they have nice triggers and faster lock time than the Win. 94. The micro groove rifling seems no hindrance either as Pope used the same rifling style in his barrels. So, well made, good triggers, accurate ba...
