I was in the same boat with my Savage 99 until Pete44ru had good idea on his sling setup. I wanted it in leather so I found one online and just came in today.

I hear you. My stomping grounds aren't far from yours, I don't think. East Carry Plantation, East side of the pond. It seems ever since Westinghouse bought out Plumb Creek 2-3 years ago they have gone back to some areas that been harvested 4 or 5 years ago to re-cut. Doesn’t make a lot of sense :|....

I agree with Six. The .358 would be my squeeze. As for the sling, I can go with or without. It's too easy to have the rifle on your shoulder when it should be in your hands. Years ago when I was traveling a lot up to the "County" I did see an accident similar to that but the smallish cow went right through a Ford LTD! :shock: Through the front windshield, out the rear window and fell back on the pavement. Fortunately, the driver made it out fine!

I do like the D30 on my CJ5 but the AMC20 rear is a different story. It still had the original two piece axles running 33's which I was a little nervous running that big of a tire. Switched to one piece Moser axles but had a hell of a time to get the pre-load right on the bearings :x. On top of that...
