That's a pretty sweet rig. I remember Ysabel talking about the Volcanic awhile back and pondering what cartridge it would/should take if made today. I think that one the guy made is pretty cool and fits the gun well.

What did you flux with? Candle wax. I just sliced some off the bottom when I needed it. I fluxed after I skimed out the clips which seemed to work pretty good but sometimes it would skin over fairly quickly and turn golden and then purple. I can't remember all of the casting "folklore" I'...

The little clippy things are in a tin can right now. Ted, that's a Lee Ultra-lite mold. You have to cast several pieces then stack them together to get the lenght of bullet you want. It works very well for cannon fodder casters on the go. :D That skillet is $9.99 special from the local cheap-o store...

IIRC, the rule of thumb is trade for one you like. That's the most effecient way to do it 'cause all the energy put into making the guns a certain way is already spent. I, as always, suggest just getting used to the longer barrel. You'll like it.

I think it would definitely be my Blackhawk .45 first and fore most along with my J.C. Higgins bolt-action 12ga. I could do 95% of it with the 12ga but I would need the pistol for long shots at bigger game plus it's a ton lighter to carry and fast into action.

Tycer, that is a great idea. I did make the combination pretty simple though to aid in opening. You can make it as short as one button then turn the knob. I plan on velco-ing it lo the night stand and adding a lip to help opening it too.
