It's a relief to hear this Jim. Is Paco's vision good enough to allow him to read? Prayers that the second eye goes without a hitch.
Not right now it isn't. He is getting by listening to audio books etc.

UPDATE JAN. 9, 2018 I spoke with Paco Kelly today.

He is feeling much better and again, thanks everyone for the prayers and kind thoughts. His eye is healing .. slowly .. but it is getting there. He is scheduled to have the other eye done within a couple weeks. Right now with one cataract eye and one eye healing he is not doing much.

Re: Military 1911 to be Released

Those old loose worn-out 1911's can still shoot if you handload for them. I bought a WW1 1911 back about 1962. Paid a huge price for it .. around $40!! The bore was pretty worn. The gun rattled loosely. Dad made up some handloads for me and I sat down and fired this 5-shot group at 25 yards with it,...

Re: Expander smaller than cast bullet - huh??

For my heavy loads I do not use an expander. I use a tapered die that only flares the case enough to start the bullet. The cases are left at whatever size the sizing die makes them. I found after a lot of work that this worked best with the 300 gr. bullets with heavy loads. It also worked well with ...

If you set your barrel up like a target rifle, you just polish the end of the barrel, making sure it's square, then use a 45 degree reamer to crown it. https://sarayuinternational.files.wordpress.com/2017/12/crown1.jpg https://sarayuinternational.files.wordpress.com/2017/12/crown2.jpg If you want th...

Re: Shortening barrel on Chaparral advise please

Contrary to popular opinion, the barrel crown is not hard to do. I have done a number of them by hand and had no problems. You don't need a lathe or even power tools, depending in the type of crown you want to make. On a .30 caliber rifle I once used a .45 caliber lead round ball with a wood screw f...
