Re: The S&W Model 340 .357 Magnum

I am thinking someone has one of the slow lot's of 820. I wonder if 20 grs. of 296/H110 would give the same fire ball. Pretty neat camera work all the same. Thanks ----J Not sure this lot is slow. Gives comparable velocities to H110 loads. Yep. H110 makes a nice fireball from he short barrel. 😀

My Cricket .22 has that same type peep.
My kids, grand kids, and some of their friends learned to shoot with it. It is tucked away in the safe until next needed.
That is a great sight. They sell the entire assembly ... it would work well on many rifles.

Those old loose worn-out 1911's can still shoot if you handload for them. I bought a WW1 1911 back about 1962. Paid a huge price for it .. around $40!! The bore was pretty worn. Re: Expander smaller than cast bullet - huh??

For my heavy loads I do not use an expander. I use a tapered die that only flares the case enough to start the bullet. The cases are left at whatever size the sizing die makes them. I found after a lot of work that this worked best with the 300 gr. bullets with heavy loads. It also worked well with ...

Contrary to popular opinion, the barrel crown is not hard to do. I have done a number of them by hand and had no problems. You don't need a lathe or even power tools, depending in the type of crown you want to make. On a .30 caliber rifle I once used a .45 caliber lead round ball with a wood screw f...
