It would be a Smith & Wesson, nothing else can compete. It would be a pre-model number S&W as most model number Smiths can't compete. I would say a Registered Magnum or triple lock. My personal choice though is the 5 screw K22 Masterpiece.

I have a 4000 square foot shop with 17 foot high roof. In below zero weather I can heat it to shirt sleeve temp with my two barrel stove. The second barrel is definitely an asset if setup properly. As to cleaning......I've used this setup for a dozen years or so and have never cleaned the top barrel...

Yes I do. Just got it back from a good friend I loaned it to for an elk hunt.....20 years ago.
Rem 700 30-06 that I glass bedded and tune up. Very accurate.

I have Winchester BBs in both. If one had to go (it doesn't) it would be the 375 only because I like the big bore cartridges.

I take a normal 2 handed hold and rest just my wrists on sand bags when sighting in most handguns. With this setup I find little difference in my standing 2 handed hold.

I use the Dillon primer tray that's large enough for the Federal package. If I'm going into a hand held priming tool I just dump half the Federal package at a time. All my priming is done with a Dillon press or a Lee or Hornady hand held tool. It's Winchester, Federal and some Remington’s for me.......

USPS doesn't want handguns. Use UPS or FedEx. You can ship it personally to an FFL in your brothers State of residence. The FFL on his end will complete the transfer to him. It’s been my experience that Savage has the most accurate out of the box bolt action. They’re not as refined as a 700 Rem but they don’t cost as much either.

I’ve bought several rifles and handguns at Cabela’s over the years and have made some very good buys in doing so. I find their new gun prices are usually competitive and I never pay asking price on their used guns. Can’t come out trading with them though....

That's a fair price IMO for a 340 in good condition.
I have one in 30-30 in original condition (no scope ever mounted) and I used one just like it to take my first deer many years ago. I've also used one in 222 quite a bit. They're good solid rifles.
