Someone on the old MarlinTalk, I don't remember who, first told me about Leverguns.com a while before MarlinTalk closed their doors. I was going by a different name back then which somehow got lost over the years. About 32 years ago I bought my first center fire rifle, it was a Marlin 336C in .35. I...

My photography skills are lacking. I had a light on the left side of the rifle so the wood on the butt stock shows up lighter than the forearm, but they are both the same, unstained walnut. Although Tru-Oil does have some color to it.

New Guide Gun
I picked up a new Marlin 1895G Guide Gun in 45/70 on Thursday. I had bought a Pachmayr pre-fit recoil pad for it and guess what? It didn't fit. Well I'm never happy with the stock finish, so within two hours of getting it home I slathered it with Citri-Strip and stripped off the finish. Once I got i...

Why not try the ghost ring first and if it's not satisfactory, then scope it. Well I took your suggestion and will see how it works out for me. I have plenty of other rifles with scopes if I feel the need. The rifle looks and feels so much better without the scope and the XS ghost ring set up is ve...

Ben, I used it on a Angentine 1911A1 that I built. It had been recently parkerized and that makes a good base for the Gun-Kote, so I just degreased the parts and sprayed and baked them. Brownels does recommend blasting the parts with aluminum oxide and then degreasing before spraying. Without the pa...

How Is The .35 Rem. With Cast Loads?
I was looking at Cast Performance bullets to use in a 45/70 and noticed two cast bullets that might work for the .35 Rem. They have a 180gr and 200gr. both are .358" with gas checks. Any suggestions or comments?
Thanks,
Don

I'm glad to see the pride. I was born in Paterson, N.J. and couldn't wait to get away. First to New York State(nothing like the city thank God) and now to Pennsylvania. I'm now in a rural area that suits me much better, but I still dream of continuing the move much further west when I retire. Unfort...

To Scope Or Not To Scope?
I have a new 1895G that should be here in a day or so. Well I'm prepared for it's arrival, but have to decide whether to mount a Leupold M8-3X scope that I have or use a XS ghost ring sight set that I have. I want to use this rifle for hunting black bear and deer in an area where most shots will be ...

.35 Rem. Dies and Components Hard To Find?
I recently bought and refinished a "57 Marlin 336RC in .35 Rem. I started looking at the different mail order companies and found the dies and cases are hard to find. It sure seems like there are a lot of .35 Rem. rifles out there so I'm left wondering why the dies and cases are so difficult to...
