Exactly. They were originally color case hardened, and much harder than the other steel in the rifle.

Some observations.... I picked up the Bisley this afternoon. I have owned a BUNCH of Ruger single actions. Some New Model, mostly Old Model. In many cases, that depends on what liner he uses. He and I were discussing a reline on a 1st Mocel '73 Winchester and the price he quoted me for the correct five-groove liner was $330, installed and chambered. Give him a call.

Ummm...I don't shoot anything usual . If I can walk into the average gunshop and buy it, it really doesn't interest my much (except for 7.62X39 and 9mm). In my case, I load 45-70 (BP only), 45-60, 56-50 Spencer, 50-70, .45 Schofield, .44 Colt and a few others. I am about to take delivery of a 9.3X57...

Huge snake. Perspective (snake closer to the camera by a good bit because of 2x4) makes it look bigger than reality, but still a monster. Edit... As someone who owns a brace of Uberti Squareback '51s (and the "Wild Bill" holsters to go with), I have to ask...how the heck do you fit enough powder in a '51 chamber to stretch the frame? I didn't think it was possible....the chambers just ain't that big!
