Re: Bear Spray versus Firearms

I recall seeing a picture of Tommy Moe, the retired pro downhill skier, guiding a fishing trip in Alaska. He was standing in hip deep water, casting for salmon with a short-barrelled pistol-grip Remington 870 on a sling under his arm. He called it his "bear swatter".

300 Savage using Nosler's 150gr e-Tip lead-free bullet over Varget powder. This is in anticipation of the state-wide ban on lead ammo for all hunting in 2019.

The logging and timber industry is dead and buried down here in Northern California. I can count the number of mills on one hand between Sacramento and the CA-OR border. I was testing the first batches of handloads for my Model 99 over the weekend in between rainstorms. For guns without a readily changeable front sight, I paint it flat neon green, the color highway workers wear. For best results, apply a base coat of white. For most eyes, neon (or fluorescent) green gives the best all around visibility. Plus, it's easy to remove/change if you don't like it....
