Re: 70-150 winchester video

Taylor’s sells the Chiapa 1887 for almost $1800. Wow. In all honesty, that shotgun, with an additional rifled choke tube and some kind of rifle sights would suit me far better. Could still play with black powder slug loads. And any 12 gauge 2 3/4” load, light or heavy.

You might try shim your mold with metal duct tape to get the diameter up a bit. It will be slightly out of round, but may not matter. That and very soft, pure lead.

Re: Wonder how long it would take

If I had that project, my first thought would be “How big has the chamber and throat eroded to?” You have a small number of cases fired in that rifle. What is the biggest bullet you can slip fit into the cases? There is a shortage of pistol caliber bullet molds between .314” and .355” for the .380 a...

Did you buy this revolver Scott? So my two cents is that it was owned previously by a person who was not accustomed to single actions with heavy recoil. They tried chasing bullet strikes all over the paper and the sight ended up like that. Sadly, nobody was there to advise them to buy the lightest s...

Never heard that, but I am only an amateur enthusiast. Jackson has fascinated me for years. As an aside, I once read that 10% of the arms laid down in Appomattox were still in .69 caliber. Smooth bore or rifled, the all used round ball, or buck&ball. I also know that Texans figured prominently a...

Re: Drove by the spot where Stonewall Jackson was wounded

I do not believe Jackson was very much mourned by the North Carolina troops he commanded. It was only a rumor, but almost immediately, North Carolina troops began to gossip that Jackson had been shot on purpose. The rumor has been generally discounted, but it shows how quick some of his troops were ...

How hard is that on a revolver’s internal mechanism? I did that rather slowly with 2 different .45 colt SAA uberti clones around 20 years ago. Both ended up jumping time and hitting the cartridge with the firing pin on the far edge of the rim.

I got rid of both of them and stopped shooting like that.

I believe one of the easiest caliber conversions is to 7.62x39 Russian. The rim is virtually the same. You can use the original clips un- altered.
