Re: Social use of the .30-30

Some time ago I read an article about hunting accidents. Not sure how long ago. Of course the first question is "Was it really an accident?". But after that, it stated that gunshot wounds from a 30-30, (more so than most other popular cartridges) were almost always fatal. Evidently, the 30...

Welcome to the site. I also used to have a .44 mag levergun, a Marlin. Shame on me for getting rid of it. I do not have the technical info you seek; personally I would sight in 2 or 3 inches high at 25 yards, and move to progressively to 50 and 100 yards. But you probably already know this, and are ...

How do you get to the stock bolt without wearing out the screw sockets in the synthetic stock? Did you just drill a hole in the recoil pad so you don't regularly have to remove it? Sorry, no interest here. A survival rifle with only two shots. My AR-7 far out classes the M-6. Still I found the AR-7 ...

Kovak was the Polish immigrant, and in the movie was killed because the stove he carried on his cartridge belt got tangled in barbed wire. He was played by Richard Castle.

That sight is extremely complex for one load at open sight ranges. My guess is that the maker knew how varied 30-06 ammo already was and put a variety of leaves on the rib so that the hunter could shoot at his preferred range with his favorite load and find the leaf that worked. Would also allow for...

Re: Make a Rifle Barrel - out of rebar.....!?

I bet a slightly larger diameter would work well for a muzzleloader. Would take a long time to bore and rifle with frontier barrel making tools, most of which were wood. However, the rebar is inexpensive enough that you could mess up a few without breaking the bank. Most pre Civil War barrels were m...
