I use RL-15 as well. It is the top powder for my 308's and 300 Savages as well. Meters well too. Usually get close to top velocity and accuracy with this powder. Beside those two cartriges I use it in my 35 Rem, 35 Whelen, 260 Rem, and 22-250. Very versatile.

71/1886 do it for me too. I shoot Marlins a lot and like them but they are just not as easy on the eyes. I also have a few Savage 99's that I think are pretty neat in their own way as is the 88 Winchester that I have, but still I think the 71 is what gets my heart rate up the fastest.

I've seen the solar powered ones but I went cheap and got one that runs on D cell batteries. Works good. I actually had it for just grazing my saddle and pack animals but started putting it around camp at night in the grizzly country. I can't swear that it works but have not had Mr. Grizz in my camp...
