Re: Pull-through barrel cleaning tool?
A good quality pull through cleaning device like the Otis or others works extremely well. They incorporate a brass brush inside the cord, plus a swab too, so a few drops of oil occasionally on the swab, and they do a good job of cleaning most bores in one pull through. I use them when away from home...

Re: Seven leaf Winchester rear sight
I never quite got the need for that particular Winchester sight. I also wish he'd have tested at 1100 fps or so instead of 750 fps. I suppose he had to accommodate the weak rifling. What I do love though, is the Sheard Triple-Leaf. SheardTripleLeaf.JPG More likely he was being careful with the weak...

Some holster wear on blued revolvers gives them character. I like a minty blued revolver, but I love the same with some signs of use.

For a semiauto pistol nothing beats a Hi Standard Supermatic for me. I've always loved them, and have had mine for 40 years now, and never missed a lick.
For a revolver the K22 S&W in a 6" barrel is tops.

One plus would be the smooth side in is easier on the gun's finish. But I don't think I'd like the looks of rough side out myself.

Interesting sight, and test. I've always wondered how a shooter who bought a sight like that could do two things. First judge distance well enough to select the right blade height; and second remember which blade to use for a certain distance?

I've always left the last bullet in my molds after casting, but it wasn't to protect the molds. I do clean my everyday guns after each shooting session, unless I plan to shoot them again soon. For BP loads in rifles I definitely clean after every outing, and very thoroughly too! When I shot .22 bullseye or adult smallbore matches I never cleaned unless it was the end of the season, or I had cy...

Dug through my old single shot parts today, and discovered a nice palm rest I think wont take much to rework. It's lighter colored wood, so I'll strip the finish and see if I can stain it dark enough to match once I reduce the shape, and make it fit my hand better.
