Re: Cast boolit hunting alloy?

I've never hunted anything but mule deer with my old guns and cast bullets, so that's my only reference. I cast my bullets softer than most folks at 1:25 ratio, and that's what I use for targets or hunting. I've never had any problems with penetration on deer, or stopping power. My loads are general...

Still just $10 here n Oregon, but I have not purchased multiple firearms at one time. But I can understand each is a separate transaction. In OR the serial number of the gun is on the NICS form/check, so 3 guns, 3 checks, but I would prolly balk at the shop's "policy" too... $10 is Oregon's fee, an...

The 990 Marlin is the same tried and true action used for many decades in the Model 60. I actually agree with the guy who said lever guns aren't as good as most modern designs! There are always going to be certain ammo that will possibly have feeding problems in leverguns. But if yu want to use the Hornady ammo for hunting I would try this. The salts used in tanning leather lace will indeed cause rust on a saddle ring. If it hasn't done so on your gun it's because it's not been there long enough, or not gotten enough humidity to start the rusting process.

There are other things to consider with twist rate that can affect accuracy. Think of it like a car accelerating into a corner at say 60 mph, and the corner being a 20 degree turn. Then the same speed and car coming into a 90 degree curve. There's a point when the tires break loose, and the car lose...
