Re: BLR Model 81 scope mount question

So, 1913 rail it is. Warne tells me - promptly, by the way - that their BAR bases have a different radius than their BLR bases. 0.670" for the BAR; 0.560" for the BLR. EGW base looks to be the best bet so far. Tally makes one for the BLR, also rebranded by Browning, but it appears to sit a...

BLR Model 81 scope mount question

Hello friends, I apologize if this has been previously discussed. My search here and elsewhere has been fruitless, or the answers were a decade old. Is there any interchangeability among BLR 81; BAR; and BPR bases? Base radius and screw-to-screw distance for front or rear base are what I'm after, ra...

The most recent new examples I've seen in shops here have been real head scratchers. As in, "How did they let that get out of the factory?" and "Why wouldn't the store send that one back to their distributor?" The answer must be that people are buying them, so it doesn't matter. ...

Another gun notorious for "plum" color is the HK P7. Early German police examples and those that have been remarked and reblued are notorious for their purple slides. They are either revered or reviled by the various camps.

I'm going with .358 Winchester as the most underappreciated. For everything that this round can do well, from varmints to elk, brush to long range, in a short action, with proper rifle bullets in a lever action, it has got to be the hardest commercially produced round to find at retail... That was always the "shortcoming" of the N-frame .357 - the short cylinder. S&W fixed that with the M19/66, which allowed handloaders to use longer bullets. But with the less robust frame, it became a bit of a wash. Personally, I don't appreciate the ultra short bbls on the newer revol...

Regarding the Marlin, it really depends on what role you want the rifle to fill. If you want to shoot heavy bullets, you can't beat the .45-70. But there is nothing wrong with the Marlin .44, IMO. Despite the slow twist rate, mine shoots everything I've put through it just fine - up to 300 gr. loads...
