Re: SAAs: Fixed versus adjustable sights
I'm not shy about reshaping sights to suit me or even replacing them, especially the little conical front sights found on so many cap and ball revolvers. Bowen used to make cool insert rear blades for fixed sight N frames that were really classy as one would expect from him. They give an excellent s...

22 Savage High Power. The only readily available bullet is the Hornady 70gr and it was on the ragged edge of stabilizing. I tried all sorts of things before making a bump die that lets me make 60gr Hornady soft points .228". Brass is an issue as well, I have to form it from virgin 25-35 as the ...

Re: My FBI friends used to carry a 3 inch Smith & Wesson 13
Short barrels K frames are my favorite CCW revolvers. 3" barrels are nice compared to the 2.5" as the ejector rods are longer and much more forgiving on ejecting magnums. In my 2.5" 19 I use Skeeter loads in 38 Special brass.

Some of the other New Models had them too. Easy to remove if you take out the mainspring then you just need to make a little strut for the mainspring to rest on. Much less problematic than the S&W nonsense.

When I was still hunting with jacketed in the 30 WCF I used the Hornady 170gr more than anything else. The last several years I've been shooting the RCBS 30-180-fp which drops around 192gr from my mold. It does everything I want in a 30 WCF. H-335 and Leverevolution are my go to powders with it. Eric

While true that the 45-70 is commercially available at different pressures, you will not find high pressure loads from the mainstream manufacturers. All come from smaller boutique firms. I think the primary reason that mainstream ammo makers only make "cowboy" loads is the number of weak designs out there chambered for the 38-55. With Ballard's and Stevens 44s among others out there it is probably viewed as too much of a liability. The 32 Special for example is a smokeless...
