Re: Wintertime Bullet Casting Question.
I cast in a shed or my garage when it gets cold and don't worry much about ventilation with my rcbs pot. It doesn't get hot enough to vaporize the lead. Seems normal drafts are enough. I always melt down wheel weights outside or any time I'm using gas that can get the lead hotter. I handle lead seve...

Savage 99 rebarrel
I have a Savage 99 in 308 that I really like but the bore is shot. The throat is a little more than .4" and worn in addition. I have played with it for a couple years but the best it will shoot is about 2" at 50 yards and that's not even consistent. I have gotten one hole 50 yard groups wi...

Re: Pellet gun death
The so called bb or pellet guns today are very, very lethal as this tragic case illustrates. My son and I both have 440's. His is .22 and mine is .17. We did test in gallon milk jugs for the fun of it. My .17 with pointed pellets totally penetrated the first jug and just inside the second. My sons ....

Re: Finally -- a range report (.32 Special and TC 45/70)
I handload Hornady 170 and three different cast bullets, many different powders, cast diameters, etc.... I played with my early 40's quite a bit and the best grouping I ever got was a box of factory Remington 170 cl. GO FIGURE.

Made in 1923. Probably refinished as it looks pretty nice. Bore is good.

Re: .30-30 in 10" Contender
because of the length of the 30-30 brass, a rechamber in either will not work
if you can get a new barrel and 223 brass, the whisper would be good

Re: WANTED win94AE scope mounts and opinions
I use a 94ae trapper in 44 magnum. I have a Bushnell Banner 1 x 4 with a circle rect. and it is awesome. I have it set at 1x walking in the woods and can EASILY follow critters running in the brush with it. Two years ago, I had a neck shot at 75 yards so I turned it to four and it was an easy shot. ...

Re: The 44 Magnum in Perspective
I feel bad now. I used a handgun cartridge to bag my 200# plus buck two days ago in my puny 16" 94 trapper.. I was seriously undergunned. I should have used my Win 94 in 32 special or my Savage 99 in 308. I wasn't even using those heavy hardcast that will take down any game on the planet. No, I...

Win 94AE trapper eject problems
I have a 94ae trapper in 44 mag I picked up last summer. It did not eject so I ordered a new eject spring. After installing it, it ejected but still a little weak. I really like the rifle and got two buck with it last season. Great for walking the sides of the steep hills I hunt. Empties hang up in ...

35/30-30 conversion
Anybody rebored a 94 to the 35 x 30-30 round? I'm thinking about a cast bullet shooter.
Who can do the work?
Looking for any info I can get.

Re: .44 Mag carbine musings Win vs Marlin
They recommend the epoxy because of the variety of barrel contours. It provides a perfect fit. You can coat your barrel with vasoline or an epoxy release and use the epoxy. It will fit perfect. Remove it after the epoxy is set up and trim off the excess. I have a Win 44 mag Trapper and think it's aw...

Re: 94 weak ejoector - need parts
I took it apart today. The spring got bigger on one end and is very weak. It is the first time I had a 94 apart. I have a 94 in 32 winchester special my grandfather bought in the early 1940's. He bought it used. It is as good as new 70 years later. Don't learn much when a firearm never has any probl...

94 weak ejoector - need parts
Thanks to answers on an earlier post I was able to determine my ejection problems on my 94 ae Trapper. The ejector is very worn. Exactly where it touches the cartridge case. Looks like almost a 1/16" step. The spring is also almost non existant. Two questions. Where can I get the parts as Numri...

94 trapper ejection problem
I just picked up a 94 trapper in 44 mag. I really like it and shot it for the first time today. Sweet little gun with quite a punch. BUT It pulls the fired cases and releases them but does not throw them out. I have to tip the gun or pick them out. Any easy look fors or fixes? Worn ejector or possib...

Re: If you've been wanting a Win 94 Trapper.......
I'm looking at my nice 16" trapper with the ugly wart in 44 mag I just got 2 weeks ago for $325.00 and thinking maybe I should upgrade. Then again, I'm also thinking of how many times I'll be slipping down the side of the ravines while deer hunting the bluff country of Buffalo County and thinki...

hammer extension & lock time
I am looking for a hammer extension for my 94 trapper. I read a review about uncle mikes being heavy and slowing lock time, affecting accuracy. Looking for input from you that use them. Are aluminum ones availabe? Is it an issue?

94 trapper length of pull
What should the length of pull be on a winchester 94 trapper. I bought one in 44 mag with a 16" barrel with a recoil pad installed on it. Still seems a little short. Am hoping it wasn't shortened.

30-30 cast bullet penetration question
Will a cast bullet in a 30-30 penetrate a deer from any angle? What is a good heave bullet and load for this?
I would like to use my 94 for walking the hills on our deer drives but broadside shots are pretty rare. Deer are usually angling away if not straight away.

savage 99e trigger pull
I have a Savage 99E in 308 that I really like. I have a Bushnell 1 x 4 with circle recticle on it and I can follow a rabbit running in the woods with it. It has become my favorite woods gun. Took a nice ten pointer with it this last year. I would really like to do something with the trigger though. ...
