I recently got a Winchester 94 "Classic" 26" octagon .30-30. It is in great shape except that the forend is loose and slides fore and aft just enough to be annoying. Any suggestions on a fix for this condition?

Thanks guys. Now I don't feel quite so incompetent. I did a little research on Marlin Owners and see all sorts of recommendations for filing the barrel notch, the forend holes, and the band itself.
A few years ago I swapped out the bands two 94 Winchesters. It was simple and easy, not this mess!

I was looking at the Lyman and Williams receiver sights catalogs and noticed that the Williams FP-94/36 sight fits either the Winchester 94 or the Marlin 336.
