Great price! I bought my GG, in 2003 and paid $350 for it. It's a ported model. Its been to Idaho, Texas and Africa with me. It's also goin to TN. in 2 wks. I wear hearing protection, when bench shooting, but it's not bothered me on any of my hunting trips. Go get it. That's a helluva deal. maddog

Well, except for doves, ALL my hunting is with leveractions. 39A, for squirrels and small game. 1894 .44 mag for deer, here in Indiana. Marlin 1895, .45-70, that I have used on hogs, javelina, black bear, and African Plains game. I'd use the .45-70 for deer, here in Indiana, but its not legal. maddog

Your setup almost duplicates mine. A friend turned me onto this load. The neat part is you can substitute different 300 gr. bullets without pressure issues. nemhed, recoil is not bad at all. I started my boy at 11 with a 20 ga. slug gun. He got used to it. Probably killed 25 deer with the single shot tracker II 20 ga. Dave, the deer are so thick in our county, I still have 1 doe tag left, but don't know if I am going to try to kill another one or not. We saw so many deer on the property we hunt, that when we loaded the last 1 in the truck, 20 stood off at a distance and waved goodbye! :wink: :wink:

Congrats! I see you are from Indiana. Did you hunt the PCR season last year with the .357? This was my 1st yr. hunting with the .44 mag. My son and I did quite well with them. Sold my shotgun, and ain't lookin back :mrgreen:

You've posted this same question on 2 other website forums. I'm gonna give ya the same answer here, as I did on one of the others. The 300 gr. nosler partition is the best. As I said before, 6 hogs, 1 javelina, 1 bear, and 7 head of african plains game, can't be wrong! :mrgreen:

I have a 1-4x leupold shotgun scope, with warne rings and a weaver base. The same setup since I bought it 6 yrs. ago. Been hundreds of rounds thru it. Matter of fact, thats the set up I used over in Africa, earlier this month. Never had a bit of trouble with scope or rings.

86er, I agree with you on the heavier bullet. I knew the nosler would work, if I did my part, sometimes I didn't. :oops: I wish nosler made a 400 gr. partition for the .45-70, that would be awesome. In general, I agree with your heavy for caliber, bullet weight, at a more moderate velocity. maddog

The Benoit's are good. No, I don't live in an area, where it would work. But Dam*n, if I was younger, I'd love to hunt deer that way! They didn't ask anybody to approve of their method, it's just the way they did it. If it don't work for you, so be it, but man ya gotta love their spirit!
