Read the book "One Second After" by William Forstchen.
It's about an EMP attack on the US and the aftermath of that. Chilling.

Don't use a rifle that will work when everything goes right. Use a rifle that will work when everything goes wrong.

I would think Silver tips would be fine for deer. I fully intend to try them soon. I just came into a Blackhawk and several boxes of them.

Good job!
I gave up Copenhagen years ago, but still enjoy the occasional cigar. You must have been hitting them pretty hard to spend a couple of hundred a week.

That ain't Grandpappy's levergun and that surely ain't Grandma.
I'm on board with everything going on there except whatever that is sticking off the top of the rifle. Is that a red dot? That would require a chin weld.

coalsmoke, thanks for that. Now I know how much damage they can do. On two legged critters they will likely go clear through! Same with four wheeled critters! One person wouldn't even slow one down. I bet they would go through 4 people. These are the only 2 I've ever recovered and it took...

Years ago my Dad made a mold that cast a 500 grain + or - full wadcutter slug. I still have some of these .. running close to 1400 fps. They tear an awful hole in things. Not sure I'd want to use them in the house. Don't know where they would stop. They are nice for use on cars. IMG_3248.JPG IMG_32...

While Cooper was wise in many ways he sometimes proved to be uninformed. His mention of east L A as being a difficult place to own a handgun is one such example. If you reread the quote, he says it is nearly impossible to own a hand gun legally in Brooklyn. He says the M94 would be perfect for the ...

Here's what Colonel Cooper had to say about the 94. He dubbed it the "Brooklyn Special". "A most interesting client showed up in our last rifle class. He was the man with the sixteen-inch M94 30-30 - commonly called 'The Trapper.' This gentleman had no interest in hunting, police work...

Got it all done and reassembled. I think it turned out nice. I added a Williams gallows type peep sight and I got the super tall file-to-fit brass Skinner front sight. Sighting in will take some trial and error.
I put the parts I removed in the pic for reference.

I am working on my first Winchester 94 project, I mostly have Marlins. My project gun has a stamped lifter. How important is it to replace that?

I may catch some flack for this one. I know how some folks feel about Commemorative rifles and their collector value. I bought a Buffalo Bill about 10 years ago. It has been shot and had a few scratches so it wasn't pristine. It was the rifle version and I hated it. I only bought it because it was $...

As for the name. I am hobby blacksmith and love that greenish yellow sulphur and brimstone smell when my forge is heating up. Probably wouldn't like it as much if I grew up with it.
And yes, very conservative!
