Re: Turtle hatch

Pitchy you'll be glad you missed the "cuisine" at last week's annual dove party. Besides piles of doves, my crazy Cajun neighbor brought a big plastic tub of goat testicles  which he seasoned Cajun style and breaded in cormeal and fried like catfish. These farmboys have been trying to get me...

Re: Turtle hatch

Thanks guys, Todd you now have family in five point lake. :)
We`ve been watching over the nest for a couple months as skunks like to dig up the eggs so we covered the nest with a cage.
Weird critters guess they can stay in the ground all winter and hatch in the spring if it turns cool to early.

A painted turtle lays some eggs in the yard a few months ago and they hatched today.
We took them to the lake and let them loose. :)

You bet buddy, the more the merrier :) Still have to wonder if we crossed paths in the USAF, '71-'77. Turns out, this gets complicated, my sisters first husbands brother used to drink at the NCO club with her second husband. Talk about a small world. Spent my time at Luke from 73 to 76, used to han...

Thanks piller, the winter will be the best as ya can fill up several water jugs outside then rotate them from fridg. and back outside.
Summer is the most problem, would have to make a ice house with saw dust in it which can be done.

Re: What are you doing to get ready

Great thoughts all, we do have a old root cellar that was here when we moved in. We have lots of lakes close by to get ice and fish from but i`m wondering if it would be as dangerous as the gold miners bring out they`er catch. If ya can get water from a well putting it in a bucket and freeze it then...

There`s a pretty big slab pile at the sawmill i think we`ll saw that up for the shop and maybe fall a few more dry trees after the leaves fall.

All my out building are built from poople stuff gets hard as rock when dry.
Don`t use it much for building things like tables as it`s too white and kinda fuzzy, we like pine for the grain.
Going to start blocking it today if it stops raining. :)
