i was at that same show show i thought all the levers were about double what they should have been considerring the condition they were in.
it was also the most crowded show [on sat] that i have ever been to.

if they would offer all their models [cals] with 20" octagon bbls and a recoil pad. yeah a short rifle. i would be buying a bunch more rossi's. a few rounds with full power 44 mag or 45 colt and that crescent plate don't seem so "stylish" anymore. maybe that is why i prefer the carbin...

the 32-20 did it at 75 yds at an astounding m.v. of 900 fps

out to 100 or so go for 1800 plus if possible.

you can use FLUE tape it holds up to the heat better.
and if you are using aluminum molds you can also
lap the mold out to te diameter you need there are several
threads on this over at "castboolits/gunloads".
just search that it will come right up.

there are a few areas you can save time and still do a good job. primer filler from dillon. seating with a rcbs primer seater. a lyman electronic powder measure, with a powder drop set up behind it. and do your rifle stuff at least 200 at a time. just batch process them. i will set up the neck sizer...

i re-member imr putting 44mag rifle data in their load books with rifle powder 4895 etc.. :shock: it was rather amusing to see that the pistols actually had higher velocities. :P the hodgdon book shows the same loads in revolvers and rifles but with the "corresponding" velocity. funny that...

the thing you do have to look out for with bottle-neck brass
is case length.
if it is too long it will crimp the case for you when you close the bolt then it will raise pressures alot.
make sure they are under the max case length.

your regular bullets perform very well at regular velocities..... the makers of bullets are actually good at designing a bullet for cartridges , the hard part for us is figuring out what cartridge they were meant for. like the speer 8mm 200 gr bullet it was designed for the 8mm rem mag not the 8mm m...

you also have the harder/softer option of mixing pure lead and ww's with 1% tin added and then water dropping them if you do this i recommend sizing them within the first few days. then waiting about a month before shooting them as they will harden up. what this does is give you about an 18 bhn shel...

the big thing with "interchange-ability" is bearing length,and jacket thickness. hornady's usually have a shorter bearing length. i would just start at the bottom soggested charge keep an eye on how deep the bullet goes into the case if the hornady's go much deeper then the one you normall...

i got your cast bullet question you donot want "controlled expansion" with cast bullets. you are already using a big enough hole. what you want is a flat meplat [nose] and enough weight to push the bullet all the way through the animal in a straight line. if your bullet up-sets some along ...

noah that 6gr load is the one i use in my usfa's also
i like near5 gr in my acp's and auto-rim loads.
4 in the 9mm and 3.... in the 38's
all with their nominal weight bullets.
oh and about the only change to unique i have noticed is the shinier label

how could you not own that 45 colt already? if it's the short one you'll like it it will sit right by the gearshift in your p-u. if it's the long one it will ride right next to you in the pick-up. can't scope it but you wont care.go shoot it. put in light loads put in heavier loads, shoot rocks,hogs...
