Re: Added a couple of special order Marlin's to the safe

Are the sling swivels on the 1893 factory original? Never seen them like that before. I have 2 old Marlin rifles with sling swivels & they are different than what is on your gun. I know they are correct. Very nice 1892. How is the bore? That is the critical factor when I look at a 1892. It has a...

1893 Marlin 32-40 extraction problem

I was at the range shooting a 32/40. The upper 1/3 of one of the shells detached from the rest of the shell & became lodged in the chamber towards the throat. This has happened before & when it does I take a stiff shotgun bore bush(12 ga) & insert from the receiver & pull it back. Th...

Re: What causes shot out barrels?

I collect the old Marlin levers. I just cleaned one this afternoon a 1893 38/55 TD. The bore is mint in this gun & also it is pre special smokeless steel being made in 1895. I estimate I probably shoot 500 rounds thru this gun every season. I use IMR3031 & a cast bullet with a gas check. The...

Re: Cody Winchester gun show

Who had the 1895 Marlin carbine? Leroy Merz? He has a couple now but way overpriced. You could probably easily sell your 38-56 for $6500.00 now without any trouble!! Wow! What a profit! My last count showed 12 1895 Marlins of 3 are deluxes. They will also be the last ones I sell. They are keepers &a...

I have about 6 1893 Marlins chambered for the 38/55. Most of them slug out at .380. The load I have found that works is 265 grain cast bullet sized to .380 & 30 grains of IMR3031. Excellent accuracy not much recoil. This will chrono at 1700-1800 fps. The bullets use a gas check. Also I use W-W c...

My vote goes for the 32-40. Very mild recoil very accurate. Both brass dies & bullets are available for both. I have a friend in N. Dak. who hunts deer with a 32-40. He has taken a deer every year except one with the 32-40. They are usually one shot kills but never over 150 yards. I own 4 32-40'...

I would check to see if the gun's serial number lettered according to its configuration. If the serial is below 355xxx you can check on it. Factory records were kept until 1906. If you are a member of the Marlin Firearms Collectors butt'n you can call & get phone verification of your serial numb...

I use a 200 grain bullet & 20 grains of IMR4227 for my old Marlin leverguns. No problems. Never chrono'ed it tho.

Hi Vall Very nice of group of 1893's. Sure like the long barreled gun. I have 4 of the 32's inchers. 2 38/55, 32/40(special smokeless steel) & 30/30. Does the 2 barrel set letter? I also have in my collection 9 deluxe 1893 Marlins including 32HPS are very hard to find. I have all calibers in the...

The 94 TD in 32-20 you mentioned did that one come from Leroy Merz? I had 2 44/40 TD's at one time but sold one. That one came from Merz's. I bought a house this spring so I had to pare down my Marlin collection some. Those oldies are better than money in the bank & if you buy 'em & sell 'em...

Vall nice bunch of '94's. The 94 deluxe in 44-40 is a super scarce gun. I know they made them but never seen one or had the opportunity to buy one. Put my name on that one if ever decide to sell. Have ever seen a deluxe 94 in 38-40? The 94 TD's are hard to find also. I looked for a 38/40 TD for 10 y...
