Hey Lenn, just a thought could you fit a long gun in the top and keep boxes of ammo on the shelves? It would look cool with a side by side or levergun... 8)

I`d have to take the top shelf out, it would make a good gun rack alright.

I was thinking the same thing John. Nice job Lenn!

(Or maybe hide the long gun in a secret compartment behind the shelves.)

So how many pounds of ammo could each shelf hold?

Grizz the only reason i can think of is it`s about the same size as a block chimney, i went through a couple of those small planers that they sell at Home Depot exc... and the pot metal gears would give out.
The one i have now i bought from a friend it`s a heavy duty commercial model with a 5 hp motor .

Very nice Lenn. The button latch on the door is quite similar to the one on my shooting house.

Thanks for the photo Pitchy, that looks like a real dandy. My shop is mostly hand tools, I'd like to get some machines sometime and make more furniture.

Your welcome,we`ve been using the heck out of the planer, paid 500 for this one.
Have to metal detect every board already wrecked a set of blades.
People never put metal objects into trees and leave them there some logger or sawyer will find them with a mill or planer someday.

I have heard of those anti logging jerks putting nails into trees deliberately. I have some relatives out in Oregon who worked in the timber industry. They have mentioned times when felling a tree that a nail was there. They sure hated wrecking a saw chain on them. Can't say I would be happy to ruin good equipment that way either.

That is how I did all the woodwork in my house. I didn't poly anything that isn't around water. My thought process was that without poly, it can be touched up if need be.

I do not know much about woodworking. Would a coat of Johnson's paste wax do any good on it? When I was a kid, that is what people used on wood floors.
