D'oh, I'm a goner for Lee Speeds. I have a "project" Lee Speed to finish -- an 1893 Lee-Metford action restocked by a talented craftsman from New Zealand. Bore is shot, so it will be rebarrelled to .375 NE 2 1/2 flanged. Have the reamer, dies and brass. Think .38-55 on steroids.

Very nice gun. Classic guns often disadvantaged in that they are kept locked up and deprived of fresh air. You did the gun a favor by getting it out for some fresh air. I bet you enjoyed the walk too!

What I like about Lee Speeds is because there were so many options available it s hard to find 2 exactly alike.Mine is a number 3 pattern which were to have plain wood,no grip or forend tip and no engraving. My example though has nice grained wood ,engraving on the action and buttplate and a long 27 inch barrel so it doesn t exactly fit the profile of a number 3 pattern

That is a mighty fine looking rifle. Not sure that I have ever seen a Lee Speed in person.
