I loaned this press to a friend. Asked for it back 5 yrs. later. Came back like this. There's no pitting. What's the best way to get the rust off? Will appreciate your take on it.
Thank you.

The handles on RCBS presses aren't finished in any way, just raw steel. Mine have rusted also, even in this profoundly dry climate. They need a little oil and steel wool, or just oil and a rag to clean up OK. If the ram has any rust, clean it before cycling it much so it doesn't wear the bore in the frame.
On hard smooth steel, rust usually is just a surface glaze, it doesnt seem to really hurt much, unless it's something like the ram that move in the frame bore. The rust particles can be abrasive in that instance.
If it bothers you, you could take the handle off and paint it.

Isnt it amazing how many people post without reading the thread?
I use a product called Evapo-Rust. You can get it by the quart or gallon at O'Reilly Auto Parts and I'm sure other places too. Good stuff, environmentally safe or so they say. Pour it down the drain when your done.
Don't stink, don't hurt your hands, but it do get the rust off.

Birchwood Casey makes a blueing/rust remover that works great. Should be able to find it in gun shops or some hardware stores, but I would probably start scrubbing with some fine steel wool and oil.
Thanks for all the fine suggestions. I had some 00 wool and went at it with some WD........good results. Another time or two at it and she'll be lookin good.
