Gun and Knife Pictures
I did a search and didn't find any current gun and knife picture threads. I do take a few combo pics from time to time, so I'll get us started.

Re: Gun and Knife Pictures
All these have come about in last 5 years, and really love every item for their use, the rifle my favorite 30-30 and took both these deer. The Kimber? My lifelong favorite handgun is my Mod 19 S&W 357, but for packing in woods, this Kimber 4", hardly know it's there, and when I got a rifle, I don't carry it, but most time I have the Kimber, especially here lately, 3-4 times a week in mountains. The pocket knife, anymore its my favorite EDC, even tho I've had Case XX, especially Trappers, all my life, got 3-4 now, plus other name brands, but this little Old Timer just carries without notice, small multi tool. The Gerber Freeman? Worth way way more than the $32 I paid for it, razor edge EASY, and by time I'd field dressed that buck on right last fall, it's still razor sharp. I've got better, even the first Buck 110 I bought in 1974? 3to1 rather gave the Gerber! I'm one the very few who don't really like a Buck 110, too heavy, hard to sharpen, wrong blade shape.

That's a perfect packing combo right there. How do you like that Buck 113 Cabelas Guide?
I saw the Guide series up there some years back and didn't pull the trigger on one, mostly because I didn't care for the Cabelas logo on the blade. But I am a Buck fan, and love my 192 Vanguard.

Thanks. I like that knife. It really holds an edge. The Freedom Arms....sadly I had to sell it. I bought it to carry in grizz country while packing elk, (and it was so cool). I figured if a bear got me, at least my kids would come looking for me if I had the Freedom Arms! Now that I'm packing a S&W .44 mag they'll probably wait till spring!!LeverGunner wrote: ↑Mon Apr 29, 2024 11:04 amThat's a perfect packing combo right there. part of my current EDC -- i am more proficient with the Officer's 1911 than i am with a full size, any of my Glocks or P-series Sigs.
been carrying it in a Galco belt slide on a non traditional Dynamis Alliance gun belt
My well used and well loved DeLeon is always with me when im doing outdoorsy things, but it gets stowed in the console of the truck if im running into a restaurant or store as i usually have a folder in my pocket. i tend to misplace folders at such a high frequency that i actually just picked up a blister pack of Gerbers at Sams Club a few months ago and always have one on me

That Remington was my grandfather's field knife while he was a Maine game warden in the Allagash. This was prior to and during WW2. He didn't carry the SAA. He had a Colt Army Special and a High Standard model B that he carried. Both of which I still have. The brass compass was also his. A gift from my grandmother. It's inscribed inside with his name and the year 1942.

I don't think I've ever seen a Remington knife handle like that. Though I'm not a Remington knife collector (yet) I do take notice of them when I see them.

Thank you. The knife is not tremendously old (15 years or so) but keeping a carbon steel blade in the sheath all the time accelerated the patina on mine greatly
I met Mr DeLeon at a gun show in the late 90's and he made a big combat dagger for me - it never was used for anything , so i figured if i ever had another custom made, it would be something more practical - this one has fit the bill for years
Kind of want something even smaller now though, like a 4" drop point

I'm a big Case XX fan. I've carried this 65 pattern Folding Hunter for a couple of years now. I do switch out my belt knife for others, but I keep coming back.
This I think is the most recent picture of my Blackhawk. You can really see the holster wear in this picture. I've carried it constantly for something like 3 years now.

Hey Feller, yes I do. Good friend of mine owns Smokey Mountain Knife Works and at the time in the 90s owned part of United Cutlery and Camilus. He bought the rights from Colt and S&W and the early knives were made at United here in the states using German steel there in Sevierville TN. This one was one of the prototypes, really good steel and thin enough to use..... Re: Gun and Knife Pictures
Hey Feller, Smokey Mountain had a Damascus Guru cornered to design some stuff for United and made some runs of high end Damascus stuff in the late 80s , I don't remember his name but he was top shelf in the field and they paid him pretty well. Anyway they formed the damascus into sheets 4ft long, the width of however long the knife model was going to be over all and the thickness they wanted. Then they used a many ton shear to lop off the blanks, there was a lot of "trimming" in the process and odd shape off fall from the shear. This guru picked up some of the scraps and made this pair and gave them to Kevin Pipes who had hired him. I was blundering around Kevin's office and saw them and asked him what he would take for them and he said take them... you will actually use them and I won't. He's a good man been my friend for over 40yrs now... JohnLeverGunner wrote: ↑Sun May 12, 2024 10:27 pmVery nice all the way around. Nice story on the bowie too, thanks for sharing. It was made by a fellow who had a shop in Silver Dollar City. Ray Johnson. He has passed on. Solid knife. A little heavy, but will chop like a hatchet.

Good Buck. Mine is the 119, good small bowie, but im not fond of the slick grip. Wondering if i could stipple it with a hot iron like a hand gun grip. there was a full tang Buck on the website with wood scales. looked much better to my eye. can't remember why I didn't buy it. idk, can't figure it out.
Re: Gun and Knife Pictures
Living in Mozambique knives were a common thing. Everyone needs a knife. I always had 6 or 8 and often gave them as gifts to some of the folks there. My pocket knife was a Schrade #SP7 and I used it all the time. I still do! It served for everything from helping make a meal, trimming fingernails or warding off bandits. And worked well.
I also had a Microtech Double Action that was a great self defense knife. The CLACK of it popping open stopped everyone who was approaching with something on their minds other than saying "Hello" ... thankfully I never had to use it often. When I left Mozambique I gave it to a good friend.
Besides those two I had a large number of various length fixed-blade knives. Some were carried as gifts and others were tools. I had a real nice fixed blade knife mounted on the transmission hump of my Hilux 4WD ... right by my left hand. One day I was giving a local Pastor a ride home and he noticed it. He said, "Papa Jim! You have a knife!" I said, "Yes I do." He said, "But you have Jesus." And I replied, "I have Jesus AND a knife!" That seemed to stump him and ended the conversation.
In Mozambique I quickly discovered that most people had no clue as to how to use a sharp knife. I had a Lansky Sharpening Kit and kept my blades as sharp as I could get them. We were in the bush for a couple weeks and one day the Mozambican cook approached me with a chicken he had bought for our supper. He asked if he could borrow my knife to cut the chicken up so I handed it to him and warned him it was very sharp. The first cut he made sliced through the chicken and into the first finger on his left hand that was holding the chicken. He cut his finger to the bone between the first and second joint. Used to dull knives he had started sawing using some force. After I had guys cut themselves several times I stopped loaning any knives.
While I always liked a good knife, Africa taught me a lot about the idea of having more than one good one.

I think a sharp knife is a lot less dangerous than a dull one. My hunting knives stay really sharp, but I must confess that my pocket knife gets dulled by constant use and I don’t sharpen it as often as I should.

Re: Gun and Knife Pictures
I have to review the ops-manual of spiritual warfare frequently these days.
.
>> https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?s ... ersion=KJVFor we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
the principalities are the demons in control of the powers and the rulers of the darkness and spiritual wickedness . . . the demo-krats and repulsive-krats.
it's those principalities that need the suppression, and that comes from the Word of God. we cannot vote the demons off the job, but God can can them. it's what I pray about.
but i hope you like the AR-47, it's easy handling and soft shooting, and zings those things out there. :)
