Marlin Mountie.

Nancy has a Taurus 62 LA, and it's fun and accurate, but the safety is a firing pin lock that allows the hammer to drop, the action won't cycle with the hammer back, and it's OAL sensitive.
Kind regards,
Tycer

#10; Winchester 9422 .22 S. L. LR.

Should have been listed as #1 on the list.

Winchester 9422 is the only one I have experience with. The Henry looks too much like a cheap knock off though

Well, I love to shoot them all...

My Win 9422 and 1957 Marlin Mountie 39a is probably the most accurate and both get shot a whole lot...

But my "highly customized" :D Henry H001 gets the most play time.

It's about as close to looking like a true classic style lever than any of the newer Marlins or Winchesters and with the 16" barrel is a whole lot handier.

And I just don't worry about it getting dinged up too much.

5 ) Marlin 39 ( plus 39A/D/M/Whatever)
I've always had a special place in my heart for the "M"....same guts as the 39A, but not at all the same..... One of JDads' Ms came to live at my house and it was raised very proper, indeed

The 39A is my favorite here with an 1897 Texan coming in second. Long live the 22 LR levergun!

If I were to vote on "smoothness" I'd definitely vote for the Henry.

If I were to vote on "what a levergun should LOOK like, I'd vote Winchester or Marlin 39a.

If I were to vote on what works flawlessly, is fun to shoot, accurate enough to hit 2" steel at 75 yards with every shot, and my favorite "kids" gun as well as my favorite "novice" gun to introduce someone to the fun of shooting . . . it would clearly be my funny-looking but very affordable RUGER 96/22. I want to get another so I can keep peep sights on it for ME, since I always keep the red-dot on it for newbies and the kids.

39A----Mid 70's version. Probably 10,000 rounds and more through it. No problems.

My Winchester 9422M was my favorite - a beautifully made, accurate rifle. I let my wife carry it only once - she fell into a muddy ditch while hunting with it.
I made sure the rifle was OK before I helped her out the ditch. Something she has never forgiven me for...

I don't like the safety aspect of front loading tubular magazines.
A lot of rabbit shooters in Australia operate at night with spotlights from vehicles. A tubular mag is just not practical.
My current lever rimfire is a Ruger 96/22 - much safer to load and unload.

This is my favorite 22LR lever action. Uberti 1866 SRC.

Note lack of loading gate. It is tube loaded like the 1890 Winchester.

Of the choices: The 39A.

But,
My all time favorite is my Martini Greener .22! I can shoot that rifle better than just about any rifle I have.

Henry .22 mag
Marlin "custom" 39A. I say it's a custom cuz it's built from a bunch of different scrap guns. It has a half octagonal barrel and functions smooth as silk. Accurate too

You dummy, you're supposed to have HER check to see if the gun is ok, then hand it to you for verification, before you LET her climb out of the ditch on her own...!

Any 24" barrel MARLIN 39a. So far I've got a 1955 vintage 39a, a brand new 39AS, and an 1897 Texan. The 24" barreled ones are my favorites.

By the way, BEAUTIFUL COLLECTION JDAD!!!!!!!!!!
