Bulk 308 64 cents a round at PSA

Post by AJMD429 »

I haven't bought bulk-ammo much for a few years, but given that everyone says there is an "ammo shortage" and local shops are in fact out of pretty much everything, Palmetto State Armory has 500 rounds of 308 at a probably-decent price for the present times.

I think there are lots of people bunkering down because:

a) if Trump wins, all the violent leftists will burn and loot with vengeance, and
b) if Biden wins, all the violent leftists will burn and loot with impunity.

Either way, the violent leftists will burn and loot - only the 'reason' will change.

At least if Trump wins, I think he will bring REAL law and order to the out-of-control places.

It's a good thing I'm not a big-city mayor; I'd just make sure the newspapers and television and social media all announced that the first ten people trying to topple a statue would have their funeral expenses covered by the city, and after that they were on their own.

I've never had any luck trying to buy anything PSA puts on sale. By the time I get to it even when they send me an email, it's sold out.

I had three cases of 150gr FMJ, but lost it all when the canoe overturned.
I'll have to get by on a dozen or so boxes of soft point hunting rounds.

COSteve wrote: Tue Jul 21, 2020 10:57 am I can't believe their price on 1,000 rds of American Eagle .223 55grn FMJBT (not NATO level 5.56) ammo. They want $570 + $26.00 shipping for a total of $596 or almost 60¢ per rd!!!!!
It merely reflects the real-world, capitalist, free-market. Nothing wrong with it.

It also reflects that the citizens-at-large have realized they neglected to have adequate stock on-hand, and suddenly are purchasing ammo.....the higher prices will be a market-signal to the manufacturers to produce MORE ammo, and the supply will be furnished, then the price will start dropping again as the demand lessens.

The 'secret' is just to buy when demand is low, and prices are low. If you are able, buy A BUNCH when the price are low, and you'll have enough surplus to SELL when prices rise the next time.... 8)

Yep. I figured you weren’t an anti-capitalist either; just observing the market and being glad not to have to buy ammo now. You did the same ‘buy when the price is right’ tactic I did, only with components instead of loaded ammo, so with your time, talent, and elbow-grease, you REALLY made out... 8)

The snoozers who waited to buy until the panic hit wound up not getting much ‘bang’ for their bucks.

I have to admit though, I did buy a couple hundred rounds of factory ammo last week...327 Federal...I didn’t have anything to shoot in my new Henry except three rounds of 32 S&W someone gave me years ago and one round of 32 H&R... :(

But the Buffalo bore stuff shot well and I got dies now, and found a source for 130 grain cast bullets, so when I shoot the factory loads up I’ll reload ‘em... 8)

I have lots of ammo, so I am not going to jump on a buying spree. I am sure I have enough for any survivable scenario I can visualize. What a person ought to figure out is how and where to stash a portion of one's guns and ammo in case of confiscation due to liberal prosecutors attacking lawful defenders of life and property.

Actually, if we spent half the time pushing hard on legislators that we spend on figuring out what stuff to stockpile, we would all be better off. :?
