Making Hard-boiled Eggs Palatable
I know they are a great healthful food and a fast breakfast to grab, that they just taste so nasty compared to Sunny Side Up or scrambled or just about any other way you can cook an egg.
.....then I discovered Wasabi Mustard, and Kroger Jalapeno Mustard.....
Sixgun I may soon be able to out-fanny burp you....

Re: Making Hard-boiled Eggs Palatable
Ya know...the headline of this post really grabbed my attention........because....because......I ate four yesterday and three today.......I eat three to four eggs everyday...all varieties.....
Hard boiled eggs get a bit of mayonnaise with celery, onions, and a bit of mustard.......In other words, egg salad. For some reason, egg salad fanny burbs are not as loud or smelly as regular hard boiled eggs with some salt on them....I can't eat salt anymore and mom has to be light on the mayo.....
But I do have recipe for really good fanny burbs....after eating a mess of egg salad, just eat some beans later on in the day. The beans will add the needed propulsion so when you feel your stomach gurgling, you know these ingredients are working hard for your imminent fun.
Sure.....with the egg salad.....eat an onion like an apple.....you'll even blow the dog right off the couch.
Just be sure to add some broccoli with your dinner for evening fun....a few eggs in the morning will give ya a whole day of blasting pleasure..just remember to add the propulsion foods.
At the match on Saturday it was common to see guys asking other guys to pull their fingers.....I'm good, but no where as good as this big Polish guy who drinks lots of beer on the evening before the match. He says he eats this deer jerky, along with an extra helping of fried onions with cheap hot dogs. Just passing this along to other guys who like to entertain their friends.---6

Re: Making Hard-boiled Eggs Palatable
Hard boiled eggs don't stay down long enough to digest in me. They come back the way they went in and at 10 times the speed. As a kid, I once puked a hard boiled egg 12 feet after being threatened with another broken bone if I didn't eat it. The black eye eventually healed.
Anything with onion and some sort of bread is enough to make me turn the air green.

Pete, how do you pickle them?
Re: Making Hard-boiled Eggs Palatable
Deviled eggs with a bit of horseradish. That's about as much hard boiled as I can take.
I have two or three most every morning with bacon, or ham. Cheese. Bread is optional. Sliced tomatos if I have them.

One of my brothers can clear an Outback Steakhouse after eating a Blooming Onion from there. I saw the people at the tables nearby with tears in their eyes. Someone pulled out a lighter to clear the air. The gagging was pitiful.

For some reason I don't like hard boiled eggs. I don't care for the whites in that form but I'll eat over easy, sunny side and scrambled all day long!

First, the mustard....I do dislike mustard but when I was typing what mom puts in the egg salad, I asked her....I too, was surprised there is mustard in it...
People come in two categories......ones who think fanny burbs are funny and ones who don't. The "don't" ones have no sense of humor, and therefore, no place in my company...life is too short to be around miserable people. fanny burbs are funny...always have been and always will be....but......I do draw the line.....it's a little high though......I do not and will not tolerate farting while eating around others........do not fanny burp in front or around women, including my wife.
But hell, ain't nothing as funny as farting and walking such as in a gunshow or other public place where men dominate.
Let me tell you about Tony Coia...Tony told me this when we were seniors in HS.....This is true and the girl in the story is my wife's cousin........Tony finally, after trying and trying got a date with Leanne, the high school homecoming queen...smokin' hot she was.....well, on their first date, they went to Gino's, a popular hamburger joint back in the day....it was cooollllllldddddd....the windows were up and the heater on full blast........cruising down Rt. 202 into Delaware, Tony feels his stomach grumbling and thinks he can let one out......well, not only did it vibrate the seat but the smell was ungodly....he told me he was never so embarrassed in his life.......yea, that was his one and only chance...they never dated after that....--6

Hard boiled eggs that you skewer long ways and cross ways to let the juice in and your favorite mini sausages such as pepper stick cut up about 3" long. You can vary you're pickling with sweet or sour pickle juice and let it soak a couple three weeks. danny
Re: Making Hard-boiled Eggs Palatable
Since we are talking about it and its that time of year ………
The Bold & Majestic Purple Polish Easter Eggs
12 eggs, hardboiled and peeled
2 cans small whole beets
1 tsp sugar
1 cup vinegar
1 level table spoon salt
1 heaping table spoon traditional horseradish (And by traditional I mean the kind you find in the refrigerated section of the store. Not the mayonnaise like stuff they put on sandwiches)
a few cloves (some folks like to experiment with spices like garlic, dill, etc.)
Drain the beet juice into a measuring cup and add water to make 2 cups of fluid. Bring that to a rolling boil and add vinegar, salt, horseradish, sugar and cloves. That will usually reduce temp of liquid but just wait a second and let rise to a boil again.
Meanwhile, arrange the eggs and beets, mixed together, in a mason jars. Pack them snugly in while the eggs are still hot. When the juice comes to a boil, pour it over the eggs and beets. Cover, & place in the efrigerator. Gently rotate the container a few times a day to rotate the eggs. The eggs will be completely purpled in 3-4 days, and the eggs will be fully seasoned.
You'll either love it or hate it. Those who share tight confined spaces with limited air circulation will not think kindly of you.

Re: Making Hard-boiled Eggs Palatable
Fred, I first hard boil the eggs in salted water (to make them easier to peel), let them cool, then peel them via rolling them (one at a time) on a cutting board to crack the shells all over..
The ingredients:
* A large glass or plastic jar w/screw-on lid
* The peeled eggs ( vary the amount of eggs according to the size of the available jar/container)
* 2-1/2 Cups water
* 1-1/2 cups distilled white vinegar (5%) (add 1-2 more cups vinegar if more tartness is desired)
* 2 TBSP salt
* 1-2 TBSP sugar (I use a sugar substitute half the amount of sugar)
* Enough dill weed to equal 24 sprigs fresh or the dry equivalent
* 4-5 cloves garlic
* 1 TBSP peppercorns
Step 2 (after hard boiling, cooling & peeling the eggs):
* In saucepan, bring the water, vinegar, salt & sugar to a boil, then remove from heat & let cool.
* Place eggs in jar, add cooled brine to jar, then add the dill weed, garlic & peppercorns
* Cover jar tightly, shake & refrigerate for a minimum 12-45 hours
Once pickled, the eggs will remain good to eat for several weeks - if they last that long.

Re: Making Hard-boiled Eggs Palatable
Here is how we do it in PA
Red Beet Eggs
Red Beet Eggs - a Pennsylvania favorite! Sweet, tangy and sour - a unique take on your average hard boiled egg.
Prep Time
15 mins
Cook Time
10 mins
Total Time
25 mins
Ingredients
1/2 dozen hard boiled eggs
1 can small sliced beets 15 oz
1/3 cup white vinegar
1/3 cup cider vinegar
2 tablespoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
Cook, cool and peel eggs.
Strain liquid from can of beets into small saucepan. Set beets aside.
Combine both vinegars, sugar and salt with beet liquid in saucepan.
Bring to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes.
Put eggs in an appropriate sized jar. Put beets on top.
Pour vinegar mixture over eggs and beets in jar.
Cover and refrigerate. Try to forget about them for a few days - at least two days. Three days and they're awesome...a few days more and they're perfect.
This recipe easily doubles or triples. Enjoy!

Re: Making Hard-boiled Eggs Palatable
I just made a dozen and a half Scotch eggs yesterday. It's a peeled boiled egg wrapped in a layer of pork pan sausage rolled in your favorite breading. (I'm doing keto now so I use low card coconut flour.) Then deep fried 3.5 minutes. Once cooled they are refrigerated then nuked. Make em ahead for a quick breakfast.
Side note; I like mine with jalapeno relish mustard.

Re: Making Hard-boiled Eggs Palatable
I eat them every day for breakfast but I only eat them while they are still warm. A cold hard boiled egg is about as appetising as a cold fried egg.
Warm, salt and pepper. You cant eat one without salt at least.

Re: Making Hard-boiled Eggs Palatable
Timing is everything...……..
Ergo, I get perfect soft-boiled eggs using a timer (no sun dials ).
1) Add 1 inch of water to a sauce pot, cover, and bring to a boil over high heat.
2) Once boiling, add an egg (or however many you'd like as long as they are in a single layer in the bottom of the pot), straight from the refrigerator into the pot.
3) Replace the lid and let it continue to boil for exactly six (timed) minutes.
4) After six minutes, remove the egg(s) from the pot and place them in an ice water bath or run under cool water until they are just cool enough to handle.
