....you probably won't like these, but if so, you might find them interesting...
I was pretty impressed with the 'tribute' band...!

One of the best concerts I've ever attended was Pink Floyd in Vancouver, BC back in the early 90's. Great roadtrip that weekend...

Thanks Doc!

That brings back some memories. My dad got me into Pink Floyd when I was a kid.
I grew up in a somewhat pretentious neighborhood and the Old Man would get home early once in awhile bust out the
Scotch and the Pink Floyd albums and blast it out across the water! My friends and I thought it was the coolest thing ever. :D
You would never know what it would be, Beethoven, Mozart, Floyd, Alice Cooper, CSN etc.

It also made me appreciate talented musicians. If you can't play it live and better that the pre-recorded version then just go home!

I listened to the track at the amphitheater. That's music. The kind of music you listen to with a big dubi in your hand. They were great days.

I like it all....

from 'classical' - https://youtu.be/NbXnoWi5cXg
to 'rock' - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CBPbG1a6EP8
to hybrids of both - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6aaeG5eR4M < - if you like mellow 'stony' electric guitar listen to this one...!

Bjornstead has a good piano set playable on youtube - https://youtu.be/7G9n6EHgmxo

The guitarist on Bjornstad's album is one of my favorites in the latter group - http://www.last.fm/music/Terje+Rypdal.

One of his best albums (older) is Odyssey - http://www.last.fm/music/Terje+Rypdal/Odyssey,
although the live version(s) from 1975 Bremen are even better - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4JvmVFqySno

I know my hearings been going lately... but in listening today I couldn't hear the bass like I used to. I stopped for the day early, and checked on the sub-woofer... no joy! Dead. But, after figurin' out that the connection had come broken... a new one had me up and rockin' out again. Tomorrow it'll be a few hours of Eric Clapton...

I saw the Moody Blues at a place near me called Interlochen, It's a world class fine arts getup.
Been to over 150 concerts, and they were a top 5 :) I find it unusual that they have yet to be inducted
into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

There is a new(ish) Indie group I'm sort of keen on. It's called "The Glitch Mob" and they do ambient "dub-step" electronica (few if any vocals).

"Drink the Sea" (2010) is particularly good and is available FREE here:

https://soundcloud.com/theglitchmob/sets/drink-the-sea (Animus Vox - 6:42, Dream within a Dream - 5:21, etc... turn these UP...)

I'm also a fan of almost any Classical/Metal fusion as well as "Dark Wave" (minor key ambient - particularly Christmas, but about anything in the theme... https://soundcloud.com/myuu/the-exorcis ... no-version) ...
C2N14... because life is not energetic enough.

They helped start it all.

Of course, Ian Anderson beat Ian Gillan by at least a year  ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d76pxiPlxHs Mixing Flute and Rock... Why can't we get musician/bands any more like came out of the prog rock era? All of the good artists are either in their 70's or dead.

But as someone who tried (still has a) playing Flute, Ian is the best chap ever... (very long video - over an hour - but amazing for Music Students...) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-4ISeXh9W8M ... too bad that we look alike... (interesting aside, from as far back as 1969 Ian Anderson was a vocal opponent of Sex & Drugs in the music industry...) When Ian finally dies we will be losing an amazing musical resource.

Then there is Symphonic Metal: One of the first - "Dies Irae" by Believer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LqBHpKHCy3Y Gituars kick in at 3:00...

I love prog rock and saw Rush cap off their touring career This past June at the Palace In Auburn Hills.
FANTASTIC show :) Deep Purple still tours, but it's different w/o Jon Lord and Ritchie Blackmore. I got to see Yes, good show.
I regret not seeing Pink Floyd but did see Roger Waters perform The Wall twice, amazing shows. Queensrÿche, sans Geoff Tate
played at the local casino recently, another great show. A Band called Mastodon is very prog, but does not sound like what we liked in the 70's
same with Dream Theater, but they're as much heavy metal as prog. I'm with you on liking the 70's stuff :)

+1. I've got a 12CD changer in my truck... one pack is just Moody Blues... Can't ever decide what goes in with them... have another pack just for Eric Clapton... but, I'm kinda eclectic, another has Hank Jr., a couple of packs are dedicated to one artist, but most are just sorta random... and I'll let the changer play those in a random order!!!

I think I have something like 30 Tull/Anderson studio albums and a couple of the "live" sets and compilations.

That's another "shoot myself in the head" for missing concert: Jethro Tull in Spokane Washington in 1998 or so when I was living there (In the Past)...

I built a set of Dynaco stuff (separate components back then) back in the 1970's.

Tube power-amp and I no longer have that, but the Pre-amp I still use.

Doc I traded for my Dynaco amps, did a 70$ guitar repair for a guy, and he said look around his shop and find something to trade-i got two Dynaco 70 stereo amps for 70 bucks in labor. Added the preamp and FM unit later. FM unit suffers from "drift" other than that work perfectly. Some audiophile guys consider the preamp among the finest out there. Need to upgrade my speakers. 8)

Sadly, I was thick as a brick and didn't pay enough attention &/or sell my car for tickets.

Well, the mouse police never sleep and that white duck has fled the road. Ah well. This was my bungle. Almost like keeping A Stormwatch Under Wraps. Impossible.

But I always did like a Stand Up Benefit performance. Maybe Ian won't get too old before I have a final chance to rock and roll...

C2N14... because life is not energetic enough.
מנא, מנא, תקל, ופרסין Daniel 5:25-28... Got 7.62?
Not Depressed enough yet? Go read National Geographic, July 1976

ALL of our Rock and Roll heroes are old...... The best of them will rock until they drop.
I saw a Blue Oyster Cult show front row, center and was amazed at how they looked
compared to the videos they had made decades earlier. They were old, chubby
and balding. Then I closed my eyes for a second.
At that moment the entire band was in their 20's again, it was magic :)
Age does not stop the rocker, only when we stop listening does rock and roll die.
Parts of it does die, Les Paul played until he was 94 years old. Only death stopped him :)
the recordings yet exist :) ROCK and ROLL!

I didn't fail the test, I just found 100 ways to do it wrong.
