my version of sixes muffler 1st test
so, in trying to be a good neighbor, i built a version of sixes muffler.
not as quiet as i thought, but still in development stage.
used old seat covers and dog blankets for insulation [ need to get some pink stuff]. a little loose in the barrel, maybe? view down the chute. the new toy that tested it out.

I'd keep the hole about six inches in diameter - big enough to see through a scope or whatever.
Remember your 'peripheral' vision is reduced, so a dog or kid running into the danger zone would not be as visible as without the 'muffler'.

Someone on the neighbors thread mentioned using tires. I have enough I may try that, if I can drill a hole in the bottom so they won't hold water....Mosquitos are bad enough!

Umm, no. it was Centennial.BrentD wrote:Indeed, some unhelpful dude - right?vancelw wrote:Someone on the neighbors thread mentioned using tires.
I think you have a complex BrentD. I never said you were unhelpful, I just said you tend to respond without reading the thread. Just because you are inadequate at home, doesn't mean there is no hope for you here. Take a deep breath, give yourself time to grow up.

I remember a friend telling me about someone he knew that built a long table and stacked up tires to shoot through. I believe it was about 20ft long, supposed to have worked pretty good, even with high powered rifles.

A row of old tires does work well. A friend in Iowa had a set up like that many years ago. He only used it to test guns for function out behind his gunsmith shop. His shop was in his garage and right in town with neighbors a few feet away. It muffled the noise to a level people could live with.

Interesting video. After the short tire sequence, you might notice that the shooters in a test of semi-auto, pump and bolt guns are wearing no hearing protection, and at least one is shooting a 7 mag I believe. My ears hurt just watching.
