I bought this Winchester 94 Buffalo Bill Commemorative Rifle - the one with the 26" octagonal barrel - in 1968 - and I love it. Great shooter.
I added the Williams FP 94/36 receiver sight which didn't require any drilling/tapping.
Another surgeon here collected 94s and never forgave me for not only shooting the rifle but adding the receiver aperture sight.
They came in pairs, as those show, with consecutive serial numbers and the dealer had sold the carbine with the 20" barrel. I guess he made his profit on the carbine because he sold the rifle to me for - can you believe - $90.00 !!!
I paid him $100.00 at the same time for my BL22 rimfire rifle!

Singly, I've seen them for the $400-500 range. $1,400 seems a tad high. But... they really aren't making them anymore... so I'm sure someone will bite.

I must confess, I'd pay that amount in a heartbeat. I paid nearly that much for this Winchester 95 in 30-06 - admittedly, it was in Hi Grade but, those 94s are pretty fancy.
I'd say "GO FOR IT !!!" I'm pretty certain they only made them in 1968.

They still show up at the Winchester shows in Cody for about $500-$600 NIB. That's the regular grade guns as in the pictures. They also made a high grade version, the first 300 guns in the series had extra high grade wood, checkered, gold trim instead of nickel, a polish on the blue that was unbelievable, and no medalion in the stock. They also had a mahogany presentation case. I've only seen one in person. They book a little higher. I was sort of hoping the $1400 gun was a high grade.

Malamute,
Unless I misread, that $1,400 was for the PAIR!

Griff,
Yes - that's why I said I'd buy them in a heartbeat. The combo of carbine & rifle with consecutive
serial numbers makes a great pair and the price seems like a bargain to me.
I was shooting at the range last year and a young (if you're 81, lots are young) Army Master Sgt. came by and I didn't think he'd ever leave.
He just stood there admiring my Buffalo Bill Commemorative 94 and saying over and over that he'd never seen such a beautiful rifle.
It was in the case and I was shooting my M1A yet.
He was probably right.
