45 Flattop and Holster/Gunbelt

Post by yooper2 »

I bought one of the new Ruger Flattops a couple of months ago and have been having a ball playing around with it. Until recently I didn't have any leather that fit it so I ordered Threepersons style holster from Simply Rugged and couldn't be happier. It looks great and sits in just the right place on my hip without moving around. I've only the holster/belt for a week but I know it will be seeing a lot of use in the future. The gun is handy and accurate but the grips have to go, they don't fit well and are a bit thin for my taste. I'm looking for a nice piece of birdseye maple to make a set out of which should look pretty spiffy.
I've been using the Keith bullet over Unique and 2400 for the most part but I just got a couple of pounds AA-9 that I'm looking forward to trying out. Yesterday (when the pictures were taken) was the first time I've tried the 45 ACP cylinder and it shoots just as well as the 45 Colt cylinder.

The only problem is now I want one in 44 Special :)

Isn't that funny how that works. I've been trying to find the answer to that my whole life. Nice acquisition.

Very nice - I have one in 357 and another in 44 Special. I would like to have one in 45 Colt with both cylinders. Had one of those one time but not the flattop.

Very nice rig!
I have a couple of the new .44 Specials, an old 3 screw .357 and one of the newer .357 Flat Tops.
The .44 Specials are just a perfect round for the mid frame Rugers, you out to pick one up if you can! Now you got me wanting a .45 :)

Our very own "chuck 100 yd" made a couple of Threepersons style cross draw holsters for mine and I couldn't be happier!

Yea, me too. Seems like it gets worse as we age. Who cares? Life is short--play hard :D --------Sixgun

Oh! Nice Ruger Yooper! You must be a youngun as the old heads here just tuck our single actions in out gut. :D BTW, measure your throats as it might greatly benefit from opening them up a thou or so. Many Rugers run tight.

Wow guys, that's some awful nice iron/leather. I really like the basketweave stamping; I usually associate it with modern thumb-breaks but it looks awful classy on a Threepersons :) .

Sixgun: I got it from a shop that had ordered it for a customer who never came to pick it up so I got to slug it before buying (the owner and I are good buddies). It's .4525" all around. There was a slight constriction where the barrel screws into the frame but some quality time with a lap took care of that.
