Not to stir the pot but now that Aquila is making the 5mm Rem Mag again I have dusted off my 592 and I have the best of both worlds again...I still love tha 17m2 for them ol tree squoilz though

When did this happen? Is someone coming out with a new rifle for it?

That's what I have the 1895 GS for.

You just need to line em up a dozen at a time to save on ammo.

don't much matter if tree limbs get in the way.

If you have not seen it yet it is already out for purchase on GunBroker.com...It will be much cheaper as soon as supply catches demand just search for Centurion 5mm its made by Aquila in Texas/Mexico and is excellent ammo

Use the 17HMR V-max load for small pests.If legal use the CCI 17HMR FMJ Load for bigger things & Gamepot critters.Seems like a New Rossi M92 Puma in 17HMR maybe in my future

both guns at 100 yds.

17 HMR birds in trees and poking paper and pocket gophers cant beat em

22 magnum like PACO said under 60 lbs. and 100 yards its your go to gun.

If your going to only have one its the 22 Mag hands down

I have one mach 2
2 HMRs
and 3 22 mags

I like the 17 with the new CCI FMJ's and the Gamepoint these two bullets give the best penetration without destroying small game. The V-Max and TNT hollowpoints are best for praire rats and ground hogs (woodchucks) small game like squirrels shot with these are literally blown in half. It's trajectory it quite flat also. While not my first choice for coyotes I wouldn't hesitate to pop one with an FMJ or Gamepoint. The 22 Mag is far better for these because of the kenetic energy and bullet weight which both equal penetration and "stopping power".

22 magnum, Love my Winchester 9422m, couldn't think of using anything else in rimfire for beasties that can reach 50+ lbs. 'Yotes, feral dogs, small pigs, etc... Thanks, Tom

the .22WMG is the way to go,because you don't vaporize the game with a .17HR ,you can shoot the Win .22WRF and get the original first 1890 Mag (good for about 75 years)for game you want to eat!

And then the WMR for bigger game!

Just picked up another .22 mag today at a pawn shop. Got a 98% Marlin 25mn (the one with the nicer stock and better sights) with a 4x32 Bushnell scope, and nylon sling out the door for $160. That is to add to my other brand new 25mn with the plain stock, and my recent addition of a Winchester model 255. So i think that my opinion on the 2 cals should be readily apparent.
