Winter but especially summer, im looking for good reading, cause after spring im getting reved to get back in the woods! Still miss the old time writers, and of them all, I dont remember any that really gave more useful material than John Wooters! And mainly cause it was useful to the average person, in an affordable way, to be applied just out your door, close to home, with a worthy weapon!
Especially to a young man consumed by raising a family, few $'s, little time! Thats the best of N. American Hunting, and seeing him just Stil Hunting Whitetails with his Mannlicher Stocked Sako spoke volumes of "Possibilities all around Us" just get after em!
But I just found this site "JohnWooters.com" where its easy to read a big collection of his old articles, which I had been thinking i wish I had all them old especially, Peterson Hunting Magazines!

Re: John Wooters
He was truly one of my favorites. It was Wooters that got me interested in bullet casting, through his “Guns and Ammo” articles. I have never found the time to deer hunt, but if I do, I will be using his work as a awesome inspiration.

Re: John Wooters
Growing up I would religiously read the hunting and shooting magazines my mom would occasionally pick up for me while shopping. In my early teens I loved reading John Wooters, Bob Milek, Elmer Keith, Charles Askins, Fred Bear and many others. Regardless of what one may think of them, their stories allowed this young Midwest kid to dream of shooting and outdoor adventures, building an interest that would last a lifetime.
Re: John Wooters
I first read wooters back in 1994 or so, and I think of all things it was an article on the 470 Capstick.

He's the reason I always wanted a full stocked bolt gun. Never could find a left handed one that was anywhere near affordable.

He was the reason I bought a 7/57 Mauser for a deer rifle. It's been a great gun but ammo could be tough to find today.
