Most Marlins use #8-40 for top mounts
I tried some from a Ruger 10/22 and they were too small. So this is correct for me.

I will try to do the honors tomorrow. I recently traded for a Marlin 336CS of 1988 vintage. It's not very pretty, but I have hopes of a project. I have pics of it.
