I use a lot of H-335, and have found that it works well in the 30-30. Also use it in .223 and .45-70 loads. I don't necessarily pause to admire my shot, and I sure don't look down at the action. But I do take the butt off my shoulder slightly and mount the gun immediately after I've cycled the lever. This is partly being very conscious of keep my trigger finger out of the trigger guard to avoid getting it...
