The original King's patent has long since expired.. There must be another reason... I'd guess it's a manufacturing decision. Yeah, a new barrel would be a good thing, Joe. But studying your pictures and measurements there is no reason for that brass to be splitting on the first shot except for being too danged brittle a brass. From your measurements it looks like the neck is oversized, allright and you wouldn't get good ...

A few thoughts... As we all know, the 99's magazine rotor is quite caliber specific. Will the mystery "303" accept and feed 35 Remington cartridges? Also, aren't the actions on the early guns are too short to handle cartridges (like the .358) based on the .308 case? I guess a chamber cast ...

32-40 an early Ballard cartridge, very popular with target shooters. Briefly, basis for the 30-30 and original chambering (along with 38-55) for the Model 1893 Marlin and 1894 Winchester. (30-30 [30WCF] introduced about a year later.)

This is apparently a very early 1893 that lacks the trigger plate support screw on the left side of the receiver. They were originally introduced in .32-40 and 38-55. It wasn't until the 30-30 chambering was made available more than a year later that the "Special Smokeless Steel" - marked ...
