Just came back from West Point after attending my grandson's graduation. Lt Samuel J. Craig USA. Infantry (added three to get infantry). Next stop Ft Benning, then to Ft Bliss (duty post), and Ranger training in Florida set for March. He's a good one. Please wish him well...

Sometime in the 60's I'd say. Back in the mid and late 50's, my high school best friend and I were still buying gunpowder in red oval center-pour one -pound cans with that label pasted on. (The label predates the advent of smokeless powder.)

Doctored shot loads are illegal - at least for hunting - just about everywhere...

(And not a good idea for home defense, either. Consider explaining the need for a "more effective" buck shot load to a jury, criminal and/or civil.)

Ithaca marketed the Erma design as the Model 72. There was a Model 49R (R for Repeater) which bears an external resemblance to the single shot, but has a reciprocating bolt rather than the single shot's Martini-style dropping block.
