They should stabilize. They have in mine. The 180 cast lbt does too at that speed. Starts to wobble at 100 at 1200 and below. Never had a real keyhole and accuracy didn’t really suffer horribly.

Yes. A mold is next. We call it slugging the barrel. I probably do it differently than most. I fill a fired case almost full of lead and chamber it. I then take a soft lead slug about 25mm long and drive it down the oiled barrel with 150mm long pieces of wood dowel until it has formed to the leade a...

Tycer, I was able to get the spring compressed pretty easily but the hammer has no rotation forward, at all. I believe it is locked on the sear. Unless you have any suggestions on how to possibly release the sear so the hammer can rotate forward then I'll probably have to go to plan B and pop the h...

Re: Winchester 94 XTR - Locked Hammer / Mainspring
Trying to remember here… A smallish square sided screw driver laid flat against the tang against the hammer spring guide rod and the “point” of the tand against something will allow you to move the guide rod away from the hammer so you can rotate the hammer into position. Then you lift the guide rod...

Re: Winchester 94 XTR - Locked Hammer / Mainspring
Not a problem. You can just drive to hammer roll pin out. You didn’t hurt a thing. You can also drive the spring guide rod back and rotate the hammer forward. There’s a hole in the guide rod for a small pin 1/16” I think to hold it back. Then rotate the hammer to what would be fired position and res...

I’m not a big fan of having to keep up with oddball cases. Crimping with a Lee FCD lets me crimp wherever I want. I have a bullet that shoots great in my old 32-20 1892 that I have to crimp right at the front of the driving band. The Lee FCD is the only way I can be sure the bullet stays put.
