Thanks for sharing those extra pics. Man that's something. I'd like to have one in 41 special, or a a Blackhawk conversion. I guess I find the cartridge more intriguing. Certainly some awesome skill involved, pretty cool.

That's a fine piece of iron right there, thank you for sharing. It appears that there is a hole in the loading gate due to machining? Any chance I could get a picture of what that looks like? Be interesting to see the guns from the outside looking in.

I just noticed this comment... I didn't know they could stuff a 44 Special into a Single Six frame. I know they can stuff 38 Special into it... and 41 Special. Do you have a thread on it or pictures?

Howdy, and welcome. I am no expert, but I have a new 1886 and a new 1892, and I've been researching the guns and the takedown system as a result. This picture is from my new 1892, but they used this system on 1886s, 1892s, and 1894s. I'd say a gunsmith removed the takedown lever and knurled the end....

Thanks everyone for sharing. I love those old ads. I had a Ruger New Model Single Six ad framed on my wall when my house burnt. I don't have anything cool currently, but that Winchester ad with the bear on a ledge, that one is very good. I like the old Marlin and Winchester and Remingtons too!

When I got the samples for my website, they were packaged very well. I got something like 600 individually bagged bullets in 1 package, double boxed.

Wow! You should test a known load and gun and see if it's correct there. I've heard of there being a 200-300 fps difference between similar barrel lengths out of different guns, but that's pretty excessive.

Accuracy will be dependent if your particular gun likes it. But most likely it'll be as accurate as any other factory ammo. I haven't any idea on the bullets performance, and am interested myself. I never even thought of using a shellholder in a kinetic bullet puller rather than the collet. What a pain to insert a large caliber cartridge loaded with a semi wadcutter into a collet! Those are some beauties. I have always found the short barrel Smiths to be particularly attractive in the way the underlug is stopped. My wife likes full underlug... me not so much.

I've used the side cutters and the press technique a lot. I do have a hammer that I use some. I've found that it works better if I use the shell holder instead of the collet that comes with it. The shell holder allows the cartridge to flop some and that causes a more sudden jolt at the end of the sw...

Lots of talk of younger folks that are not into the older guns...well, myself is a younger folk, and I like the old stuff, and my boy, well... he can't help but have the itch too, he's a levergun nut at 4 years old. I prefer paper books rather than internet pages.
